Posting on here to get a better response and coverage.

It coming up to the time where my car insurance is up for renewal again, and I know that this subject has been done to death, but I was just wondering who people have been getting their cars insured with of late, as every year, I use a different company because one of them is always cheaper than the rest!
The renewal quote I have received for my S3 is a computer generated(I think) quote around the £650 region with all my mods declared, last year they(Greenlight) were the cheapest at £777, beating AdrianFlux by over £100 who insured me previously, they just couldn't match or beat it.
Seems odd to me that an insurance company you are currently with doesn't bend over backwards to retain my/our business, when we have given them 12 months hassle free(ie. no claims made) business?!
So any recommendations this time round, as I called Greenlight with recommendation on here 12 months ago, and they were good!.

I got my cover through priveldge and unlike others they actually cover the cost of things like optional extras and also the mods themselves.

Most companies I have quizzed charge extra for things like sports exhausts but would only replace them with a standard item in the event of a claim.

I am paying £600 a year with priveledge for a new A3 2.0tfsi sline Quattro with 250bhp.

Although this does seem extortinate as my cosworth with 450bp was only 700fully comp with an agreed value payout.

am sure with elephant, if you have mods, and when you make a claim, they only pay out for the originals, not your modded stuff

I thought all insurance companys will only cover a base car costs, so no mod costs.:sly:

I've had the Astra with Greenlight for the last 2 years, and nobody else can beat them. MK2 Astra, 280bhp, all mods declared, FC...................£490 with PNCB.

I have the Audi with Chris Knott Insurance. Superb service, and I get a discount through the Vauxhall Owners Network.

try zurich special risks they have give good quotes on modded cars. my mate works at hasteings direct so he goes try them if you are over 25+ they can sort summit out. im stuggling to get a good quote on a 99 s4 got quoted £1800 im 23 with a years no claims mite have to wait till im 25. :noway:

Doesn't seem to matter whether I use Adrian Flux, Greenlight, HIC etc for modded car insurance,.......the underwriter is always Highway.

anyone tried Brenacre insurance? pretty good in coverin all my mods and remap to come

I call these guys up as an ClubGTI member every year for a quote, they offer a comprehensive cover where everything you do to the car is covered from coil-overs to engine mods, so long as you retain the standard engine capacity and turbo/supercharger IIRC, it's always around the £900 mark for me, but if I can save a couple of hundred quid elsewhere...

Have you tried Hertz? They are a specialised company for performance and sports cars. I am insured with them, I am 22 years old, was in Car accident last year(not my fault though) and got 1.8T A3, Fully comp and only pay £540 including Break down cover in that with GReen Flag.

Google them, they aren't that well known and not plastered on every advert, but they are really good and especially if you are modifying your car or already have.

thats the one i was trying to find for jojo, but forgot the name, they were at edition38,

I just had a right fuss with my insurance. Got a quote with confused.com and Morethan was the cheapest for my car.

So i took it out. Got a email saying welcome etc. Money was taken out of bank account.

2 weeks late still no documents. So i call get through to India and they say you car is not coming up on the computer and would you like a quote.

So i call again the next day and get someone in the UK and they say they are not covering the car as from this phone call.

I then speak to the manager who tells me the same. What a farce i said so have had to take out my insurance with RAC for £200 more just now and going to report Morethan to the financial ombudsman.
