One was pretty deep but looks alot better than before.

He says he wants me to look after his new Jag XK Coupe aswell. some ppl have too much money!!!

Took 2 days on and off.

It belongs to a friend of mine and i wanted to see just how must i could restore the paintwork. He then let me borrow it for the weekend.... which was nice :)

i use all autoglym trade or bodyshop stuff. had to use 2 different compound polish's and then gave it a few coats of different wax's to finish it.

i did all the inside aswell and fed the leather but it was no where near as bad as the outside so the differences are not as noticable
 
goddamn! that porsche red looks just as bad as VAG Tornado red..
 
might have to get you to do my S4 when it comes out of AmD.

was around £400 for that work... which i think was fair

thanks... the compounds were applied via a machine polisher at 1300rpm... the wax's were applied by hand and buffed by machine at 1800rpm
 
very impressed, shocked by the condition of the porsche. didn't realise you could rescue paint like that without adding more paint! it looked like it had been cleaned with a brilllo pad!

haha funny you should say that. Steve (my mate and the owner) actually DID try the green side of one of those washing up sponges along with neat alcohol to get rid of the oxidisation!!!!!!! i went nuts when he told me. i have told him not to touch the paint again both on this 964 and the 993 he has just bought! i told him i would look after them from now on. cant bare seeing paint in that condition. makes me feel a little ill.

Steve is a really old mate and a great guy.... but is hillarious when it comes to things like this...

i practically live at his house at weekends..... drink his beer... eat his food... even dated his daughter for a short time... and now drive his car.... couldnt really charge him now could i... although it would have cost him around £400 for the work i did.

im using it as advertising though and as a demo for a porsche specialist where i hope to get a bit of work coming my way based on the excellent job i did to this 911.

I thoght the Porker belonged to a Pikey there in when i seen it next to the caravan. Relieved to see it next to a house a pic or two later.

thanks

basically i used autoglyms trade range. the products are stronger and more effective than the retail stuff

in this order i did the following...

Stripped off any old wax with TFR
1300rpm polished with 03B compound polish
1300rpm polished with Paint renovator polish
Alloy wheel cleaner
TFR tyres and arches and wheels
Shampoo entire car
Apply cleaner wax
condition rubbers and plastics
polish exterior glass
dress tyres
wax wheels
take off cleaner wax and 1800rpm buff
apply hard wax and leave for 3 hrs while carrying on other work
vacuum interior
shampoo interior
polish interior windows and mirrors
clean leather
dress plastics
feed leather
take off hard wax and 1800rpm buff
check everything looks ok and have a cup of tea.

ALMOST the same.... the trade range products are generally stronger and more effective.

How long did it take JK? The change really is amazing. I would have thought a respray was required rather than all your hard work and effort but this is the proof.

I remember seeing a competition for these type of repairs on CarCare or Autopia where you can win a new porter cable or something like that. You should enter it.

that porsche is so clean, its amazing what can be done to restore it, it was pink! you can clean my car anyday!
 
Red paint is the worsed for oxidising. Its just the top layers which oxidise in UV sunlight. Oxidation is usually recoverable with alot of elbow grease.

I/we the company manufacture alot of automotive car care products which we sell to retailers to re-brand etc. We often encorporate a higher concentration of actives for professional users. If you need anything special knocking up JK, just PM me.
 
mmmm DB9. lovely... although after a bit of questioning, the owner admited to taking it through a car wash a few times :eek:

6 hrs, full machine polish, layers of wax later and it looked like new again (or better :roll: :wink: )

I think these Aston owners are missing a trick, if you turn up as any Aston garage in your aston they will clean it for you there and then, inside and out free of charge! A friend with a vantage hasn't yet checked this is the case, but he was told this on delivery - lovely cars!
