look what i cleaned today

true... and any owner that wants to do that is perfectly entitled to (if indeed it is correct).. Although just because they are 'aston martin' valeters doesnt always mean that the job will be amazing.

Also there is alot to be said for the conveniance of the service i offer. I turn up and all they need to do is give me the keys. No waiting around at a garage while the car is cleaned. they can get on with their work or other daily routine while i quitely work away in a corner of a car park somewhere.
 
Sorry Jedi I must have come across badly like normal, I only mentioned it because I thought it was pretty funny and I wouldn't expect them to be any better than the local Audi garage at cleaning cars!

I've paid to have my car cleaned and polished in the past - I think the hassle free and excellent job you guys do is sometimes well worth the money - we used to have an Auto Glym trained chap come to work every few weeks and he was tops, didn't know what to do about the Alu mirrors though which has always puzzeled me, he did a great job on the paintwork though!
 
I'm pretty sure GTQ was referring to your Aston owner admitting having used a car wash... I don't think anyone would compare a professional valet to the quick scrub up they give you in a dealership. It wouldn't surprise me if AM offered that as a "service" though. I remember doing some recovery work for a local Rolls Royce specialist. If we ever recovered a RR to a dealership, they would complain like buggery if the car was not covered while on the trailer. And, if you turned up dragging it on a hook then there was hell to pay, even if the thing was a write off.

It amazes me that people will spend all that money on a car and then get a car wash or the "free" wash they give you in a dealership. It's like buying a million pound house and getting some pikeys to do your driveway for £100. It just shouldn't happen....
 
spent the past two days on and off doing my own car.

not many pics and the ones i have arent that great as the sun was a bit bright but you can see it more in the shade. In the flesh it looks amazing though.

Process:

-Wheels cleaned with AG alloys wheel cleaner, brushed and rinsed.
-Whole car sprayed with TFR mix, arches, door and boot shuts, the lot, and rinsed.
-Car shampoo'd with AG shampoo and conditioner with AG Autorinse Gloss mixed in and rinsed.
-Clayed with Meguires Clay.
-Washed again with the above mix, rinsed and dried.
-Waxed with AG Super resin
-Windows cleaned with AG Glass Polish
-Rubber treated with AG rubber care.
-Wax removed by hand and buffed at 1800rpm
-Waxed with AG EGP
-Arches sprayed with AG super sheen
-Tyres dressed with AG rubber plus
-Interior vacuumed, all interior glass cleaned.
-Wax removed by hand and buffed at 1800rpm
-Another layer of AG EGP on bonet, roof, wings and top part of doors
-Wax removed as above.
 
That aston looks amazing - the shot of the front bumper especially - wow - you could shave in that !!!

OK.. on the agenda today was a nice MkV Golf GTi. Not done one of these before. very nice car all in all. Will be looking for one when prices fall a little more i think.

anyway. i went a forgot my blooming camera didnt it so i had to use the phone (K800i) so apologies for the poor picture quality.

Before, as you will see its pretty dirty although the paint itself isnt it a terrible condition so not much machine polishing.. just needs a damn good clean

The process (pretty much the same as i recently did to my own S3)

-Wheels cleaned with AG alloys wheel cleaner, brushed and rinsed.
-Whole car sprayed with TFR mix, arches, door and boot shuts, the lot, and rinsed.
-Bonet machine polished with AG 03B compound to remove cat scrtches and bird poo etching.
-Car shampoo'd with AG shampoo and conditioner with AG Autorinse Gloss mixed in and rinsed.
-Clayed with Meguires Clay.
-Washed again with the above mix, rinsed and dried.
-Waxed with AG Super resin
-Windows cleaned with AG Glass Polish of AG Fast Glass spray
-Rubber treated with AG rubber care.
-Wax removed by hand and buffed at 1800rpm
-Waxed with AG EGP
-Wheels waxed with AG EGP
-Tyres dressed with AG rubber plus
-Interior vacuumed, all interior glass cleaned.
-All leather cleaned and fed with AG leather cleaned and then AG leather cream
-Wax removed by hand and buffed at 1800rpm

The result...

More to the point though, was the owners happy?, and how much do you usually charge for such service?? :cool:
 
yeah i think the owners were happy. a detected a slight whince as i told her the price though which either suggests im too expensive (i dont think so for working hard all day) or that i could have done a better job ??

£185 for that golf gti job. took 8 hrs solid. no lunch, just a couple of cups of tea and lots of water.

£23.00 an hour for a quality and profesional job, your price seems about right.
 
I would pay that to get the swirls removed from my car, i dont seem to be able to get rid of them. I feel it may be easier to get it done, and keep them away myself ??
 
yes without a machine polisher it is near imposible to remove swirls or other paint defects.

Machine polishing starts at £110 for a small car and that includes a layer of wax once its finished. A full clean must be carried out before that though and an extra layer of wax and clay bar-ing is recommended aswell. ONce its all done though.. as long as you improve your washing technique then it will remain swirl free
 
Simple one today although it was pretty messy after the owner having thrashed it round france for the past 2 weeks

Body, Arches, Door shuts cleaned with TFR and scrubbed.
Rear load area cleaned and dressed.
Body shampoo'd and rinsed.
Layer or AG SRP applied.
Rubber dressed, Windows cleaned, Arches dressed, Tyres dressed.
Interior Vacuumed, Surfaces wiped
Leather treated.
