Hi,

Just curious of people's experience with a full car wrap. I am worried it would be too high maintenance in comparison to paint? Any specialist methods of washing and polishing required?

Painting would never be an option. So I found an amazing company called Midlands Car Care, who in my opinion are the most dedicated set of workers I have ever come across that take great passion in what they do. So I wouldn't hesitate paying the £1300 for a full car wrap if there wasn't so much involved maintaining it at a later stage.

Regards,

Matt :kissmyrings:

I used to have my bonnet & roof wrapped on my skyline and it was never any different than paint care wise.

Only down side to wrapping is it only lasts for a certain number of years.

MCC are a really professional outfit. Never heard a bad word said about any of the work that they have done

I am meant to be taking mine there for a full detail soon and might have the roof wrapped if they cant get it sorted as its not in the best state.

Would you be going for a new colour altogether?

Never heard of MCC, however as they are just round the corner i may just pay them a visit if they are as good as people say.

£1300 for a full wrap are you ****ing mad ?

and as for cleaning all depends on gloss colour make of the wrap etc etc

iv had 3 cars done and never paid anywhere near £1300 and all have been done with top quality wrap and no not back street garages

Maintaining the wrap was my main concern to be honest, I would still want to be able to wash it normally and not potch about more than I need to.

The wrap I was quoted for a 3 door A3 8P2 was £300 and £895 labour. But now I am likely to get a 5 door instead so I added extra cost into my original post. For £300 I would like to think it was a reasonable wrap. I expect I would only have the car 2-3 years tops so I would hope the wrap would last that long.

Yes I am very impressed of what I have seen of their work, amazing attention to detail.. fantastic company.

Yes I would be looking to go for a full car wrap in White. :)

If you have access to Facebook, they post regular updates of work and it is outstanding how much enthusiasm goes into their work, the attention to detail.

Well I was quoted £895 for labour and £300 for materials on an A3 8P2 3 door. So I added an extra £100 seeing as I am now likely to get a 5 door. I believe I was quoted for a Gloss White out of a Hexis 2000 range.

I thought it was pretty steep, but when you compare it to the price of full resprays today it is superb value, you need to watch their work really to appreciate how much time they spend on cars.

with the matt wraps you need to use a good matt wax to keep it from staining

I think the only concern is damage to a wrap, also I would want to view some previous work in person as it is the attention to detail you want in the nooks and crannies.

You posted pics of exactly where I'd want to look Bez

there's another guy on detailing world - Magic Valet he does lots of wrapping and they all look good jobs as he posts them up.
How much is a full spray or even the bits your not happy with being done on a 8P?

You got a link to a website for them mate?

Based on quoted we have had on other cars, I would expect a full colour change on a 5 door 8P to be nothing less than £2500. The prep work is what costs the mega bucks.

nope wouldnt use them, heard some very very bad stuff about that company, how they slice up your paintwork when applying a wrap. was all over gtr forums a while ago when a guy took his wrap off to find out all the knifed up panels, and how they cut the wraps on the car ruining the original paintwork.
