I would have offered 50p, would have been worth the publicity alone!

    That is great.
I personally hate (I dont use the term commonly) Carcraft/webuyanycar - legal con-merchants, almost exploitation.
However I guess people are stupid enough to use them - more sense than money!

Out of curiosity last year I valued my A4 online - they gave me a figure of around £2100 if I remember correctly.
About 5 minutes later I had a call from them from a supposed happy chappy asking to book an appointment or if they could come and see the car.
I refused straight off as the offer was obviously silly - he then spent 5 minutes explaining why my car was not worth any more!
I stated that the car was in pretty much mint condition and wanted for absolutely nothing, he persisted until I had to cut the conversation short and state that I wasnt interested in the offer.

Precisely a week later I had the same phone call from someone else "as a special offer we have decided we can give you the same as we offered last week as its now actually worth less"... unbelievable, I fell sorry for the guillable people who use them (put in a slight more effort and sell privately!)

The parents of a friend of mine sold a 2002 1.2 Saxo to them the other year for £150. The car needed a little TLC and was at 92,000 miles.
This was after £450 had been spent on a replacement exhaust a few months area with kwik-fit! I offered them £200 for it but I was too late.
Around a month after my mate found it on auto-trader from a private car dealer, for £1499 it had also time-traveled back to 71,000 miles.
We did a little digging round on companies house, the director from the "private" car dealer was also the manager for the carcraft branch the Saxo was taken to!...

That's business for you, unfortunately some people think its a good price, not knowing they just resell the car, or whatever they do, they'll make money on it.

Gullible people, that's why these companies are around. Daylight robbery if you ask me.
