Ok, so it's Xmas eve, 3PM, I'm in lane 1, just cruising along at the customary 56mph behind a few cars who are all held up behind a truck up ahead. There are a few cars in lane 2 (lane 1 is a filter) and an escort in lane 3 overtaking them all - probably speeding slightly but nothing too terrible. A 5 series plod car arrives behind it, nose in the tarmac and sits literally 4 feet off the tailgate of the escort. Low and behold, another one right behind it.... no blues, nothing, just tailgating plain and simple. (Could be the BMW factor)

Then, cos the escort is not able to get past the cars quickly enough the one in front starts flashing its headlamps furiously to get the car out of the way (not that it has anywhere to go, as there are still cars in lane 2) again, could be the BMW factor

So, my point is - traffic cops are highly skilled drivers - but if the guy in the escort had looked in his mirror and performed the classic "Oh, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif, rozzers!!" and hit the brakes, the 1st police car would have been into the back of him - no matter how good your reactions are there is no way you could react quick enough, and the 2nd plod car would have hit the first one....

Now there may have been a genuine reason for it, but I can't think of one which would require neither car to have their blues and twos on, while on a motorway

I thought of taking their reg numbers and reporting them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/10_1_114.gif and then thought better of it....

Been there, done that and was told "tough titty, It would appear sir, a bad case of sour grapes..." /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

Thats why I didn't bother.... I figured that kind of attitude would be present.

Wonder if they would think the same if a couple of people were killed in the accident they caused. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif

Yeah... and I wonder what they're response would have been if you had done that with a mate... or even if you had reported some other member of the public for doing it...

I wonder...

Fools.

Looks and sounds like a driving course to me....they always have 2 going round together...without any blue lights!

Yeah I figured that it would have been something like that, but then, if it's a training excersise, surely they would (should) have had their emergency lighting on - after all that's the only time they should be using it - how often are they going to attend something, on a motorway, which requires a silent approach?

I remember seeing something in the press about their training exercises. They don't use blues because they're not attending an emergency, but still drive like they are?! I remember there being calls for them to change their training after people were killed by them. Another way to tell is if there's a car load of them, they tend to go out with 3 or 4 in each car.
