Im not sure where there getting there votes from but looking through that list I can see at least 10 in the top 20 that I would place right at the back of the list.

Even BMW I would say is placed to high up!!
now I am a BMW fan but there modern stuff is completely terrible.
the newer Diesel engine wears the timing chain and sprockets and causes engine failures. to sort the problem before it kills youre engine you need to remove the engine as the timing gear is at the rear of the engine!!
the diesel engine before that liked to ingest its swirl flaps and destroys the engine!! yea that's reliable!!
the E46 M3's are that badly designed that the shells are starting to split at the rear even the 328i's have been known to do it!!
yet BMW don't see these problems as an issue so wont do a recall!!

Subaru!! dont even get me started on them.. there engines are crap!! every one Ive dealt with or known has either had a complete engine rebuild or a new engine yet there number 4!!

as for Suzuki being number 2... Ill ask my neighbor if they would agree with that. they have a grandvitara and it spends more time off the road getting fixed than on the road!! and everything is dealer only!! I tried to get a price on track rod ends for it and could only get them from a dealer!! £80 a side IIRC

We used to own a xj (350) 3.0, the alli model. We had our fair share of trouble with that car, i would personally put them a few points lower.
JBH your points on the bmw, now that is a surprise, my brother he has a 530 diesel, at first it was a good car, he is not so sure now, never saying what he means.

He wishes he has kept the 330 d he had

Yea read up on the M47 and N47 2.0 diesel engines..

BBC One - Watchdog - BMW deny engine failures are due to manufacturing fault

I was lucky with an E46 320d I bought one and the first thing I checked was the swirl flaps one was hanging on by a thread or 2 of its little screw.. it was nearly bye bye engine!!

I never kept the car long as to be honest my old 110 passat felt livelier

Yeah i saw this too ! Got a email from Whatcar and was quite interested and surprised in what position some cars came.
Mercedes need to be down at the bottom, when me and my wife had mercs in the past we had nothing but trouble.
The amount of problems what went wrong with them you would not even believe me if i told you !
Terrible cars would certainly not buy one again.

Land Rover belong where they are. All the people who i know who have had A Land Rover/Range Rover have had nothing but trouble especially with electrics.

Quite surprised at Bentley down there but i suppose they have hell of a lot of technology. The more technology then the more things can go wrong i suppose.

Honda at the top doesn't really surprise me. My Honda lawn mower hasn't let me down as of yet, i just keep filling it up with Texaco Supreme 97 Octane and it runs superb

I suppose audi's down there because of their problem with the oil pump failure. Apart from that they are the bees knees.

As for Skoda. Well I suppose they hardly ever do go wrong after all. Rofl.

    These eight really surprise me

    2. Suzuki
    3. Hyundai
    4. Subaru
    5. Toyota
    6. Lexus
    7. Chevrolet
    8. Mitsubishi
    9. Ford

I have had a least one of these makes over a lifetime or know people who have....most recently I had a Mitsubishi L200 Warrior which had a new engine in at 75K, I sold it as it was starting to run into problems again, despite regular servicing etc. These trucks are reknowned for problems so I would hardly put them 8th! Personally, I would never put any of these makes as high as they are, they all have problems in one way or another, some more than others.

Half the issue is people that buy crap cars (Fiat, Vauxhalls) won't admit that they have a crap car so will say it's been fabulous even if it's been in and out of dealers like a yoyo and the headgasket failed in the first 10k miles (seen this on Fiat and Rover). The posher brands tend to be owned by people who demand a lot and are happy to moan

    Life begins at 140mph

It must be all the other stuff breaking down, also it must be based on how many not what percentage looking at them figures.
