I take it by alledged you mean you were actually going faster...

Can't be of more help but I'm guessing your in for a long wait and a ban, unless it's a first offence and you can get your employeer to write you a letter saying you'll be sacked if you loose your license etc.

good luck and let us know how you get on.

Yeah prob will be a short ban and a few hundred fine.

2 weeks is pretty kind, is there a cut of point such as speed, that is 2 week > 1 year > prison for driving without due care or something,

Re: SPEEDING

I think it all depends on situation as if its considered reckless then it can be jail time (very rare)... I think if you need your car to get to work or in relation to work you should be ok if you get a letter from where you work, a guy where I used to work got off because we wrote him a letter. Think he got caught doing 105 - 115, got a slightly bigger fine and no ban from memory.

Quite some years ago... got done for 106MPH - 340 fine but got off with the ban because of previously mentioned 'will lose my job' blag, they call it 'excessive hardship'. Didn't need the letter, I just stood up in court on shaky knees and pleaded for forgiveness (******! )

Little did I know at the time that you can only ever use that reason (excuse!) once... b@st@rd! Next time I got a similar fine, 6months and a free f@ckin microwave! That was for totting up though...

Re: SPEEDING

1 year ban for 107 on M3, but in mitigation I was already on 12 points having been previously "let off" a ban via the undue hardship defence.

There is no hard & fast rule about speed=ban, it's more dependent on the magistrates on the day rather than the conditions of the speeding.
Hope you get a better bunch of do-gooders than I did.

"Did you want to get banned or something?"

It was the quickest way to get back down to zero points!
To be fair my car had been broken into the night before and all the brand new Alpine gear nicked again 2 weeks after it had just been replaced after a previous robbery, so I wasn't really thinking straight.

Re: SPEEDING

You only get all the points wiped if you get a 2month+ ban.
Frankly I don't understand why you get the points wiped at all, if they're sooo concerned with speeding as a cause for accidents/injury then surely there shouldn't be an upside to getting banned.
They really do make a mockery of their own arguments.
On the one hand they are saying speeding causes accidents
But in all my court appearances for speeding no one has ever asked about my previous accident history (which is zero), just prior speeding offences.
Surely if a persistent speeder is such a liability on the roads, then they should take into account the amount of accidents caused when considering the punishment.
Obviously they realise that the two factors are usually totally unrelated so, in true British style, will continue to treat the symptom rather than the cause and never actually mange to make our roads safer.

Re: SPEEDING

The problem with the ban is that some insurers won't touch you for 5 years and you have to declare it to them for this period.

Re: SPEEDING

Yes but I think they are now changing their attitude to points and totting up bans as:
1. They realise that it has no bearing on driving safety
2. More & more of their customer base are sitting on 9 points or have had a ban

I found it relatively easy to get insured when I got my licence back, just went with a specialist broker, 1,200 for the first year back in 1999, and around 800 subsequently and now it's levelled off at a healthy 600 (fully comp on 2.8Q including business use).
Points on your licence was relatively unusual 15 years ago, now I don't know anyone (apart from my mum) who has a clean licence.
It's quite ironic that insurance companies have the real data on how speeding relates to accidents, and very few charge extra for fixed penalty offences, yet we are constantly misled to think that speeding = dangerous driving = accidents.
You can be a hopeless liability on the roads without breaking the speed limit.
Why oh why you are not penalised with points everytime you have an accident just beggars belief!

Re: SPEEDING

Have been watching my speed like a hawk, so YES i have learnt my lesson, BUT have noticed if im doing 29mph in a 30mph that everybody pulls out on me, old ladies, vicars nuns, the ducks at the local duck pond just step right out in front of me, even pepe on his donkey sees the gap and out he comes, ill end up rear ending someone soon, then get done for careless driving.
Poodling about you can see some right bad driving on the roads.

Liverpool Victoria policy

No need to declare anything less than 9 points or a ban due to a single incidence of speeding.

cheers medicineman ill prob have to look at those in the new year, Easy tease not sure if your having a go or just saying you got caught at only 106, but all i got to say is good luck with your speeding but your soon change when you get caught, Im ok on the motorway/dual carriageways but around town 30mph i think is dangerous, dont get me wrong schools built up areas, high streets etc then yes im ok with 30 but when your on open stretch of road with no pedestrians i find 30 dangerous as like i said earlier everyone pulls out in front of you, so you break and the twat behind nearly goes up your arse, im really expecting some one to crash into me or experience road rage as they see a tt doing 30mph and think im having a laugh
