As title, was sat in the car with the brother in law waiting for my other half and mother in law to get some essentials from tesco.

Now a woman pulls up next to me. And I just knew she was gonna got my car with her door, especially being around 1mm away from the steering wheel( how is it possible to drive like that)

She opens the door with a thud, I was shocked, she hurried off into tesco so I gets out to look at the damage, there's a spot or so where it looks like the lacquer has chipped off

Where do I stand in this now that I've come home? I have her reg plate. Should I call my insurance ?

Did you not shout at her when she did it cos i would have given her a blast of f@@ks

if you were there when she did it you perhaps should have sorted it then. Now she will just say it wasnt her.

Oooooh, you shoulda nabbed her straight away as she'll deny all knowledge of it if you go down the insurance route. Policy excess my be more than the insurance quote in truth. Paintless dent removal will be your best bet, you'll be amazed at what they can do / repair.
The wife had our door blow open and wack the sill of the conservatory, bad crease on the door edge just below the handle and a crack in the paint. Mobile guy came out, spent about 1.5hrs tapping, fine sanding and polishing it until you'd never know the difference. Charged us £35, absolute bargain. Oh, if it was me and some numpty dinged my car and walked off even after pointing out to them then I'd have to say I would leave my mark in one way or another that's for sure. I know 2 wrongs don't make a right but It'd make me feel better (am I wrong for saying this??)

I understand, I was that shocked to be honest and she were gone by time I checked it out. I don't understand idiots like this though. An apology would of cut it as I was gonna get a dent man out anyway but it was just the shear ignorance of it

As it wasnt dealt with at the time of it happening there will be little you can do now, your insurance will let you claim but claiming off her would be another hard to do. You would need to way up the cost of excess etc before going down this route.

The best thing to do in any situation like this is address it right away.

Hopefully it wont cost you much to get it sorted

If I see her again, ill say something. Lesson learnt for myself then. Don't hesitate next time! :(

i was sat in carpark in darlington once waiting for my course to start and some tosser parked next to me and hit my door with his.
iv never jumped out of a car so fast and need, less to say he had some harsh words dealt.

I recorded his reg plate and took a pic of how close the car was and he finally settled to have my door painted.

Haha, I recognise the face to be honest. Is there no way I can get her details via reg plate to ask?

Could get the police involved and state that she "hit and run" youre car. might take it through insurance though

No, no, no. Don't claim 'hit n run'. You'll end up in more bother than it's worth. Get a dent man in and repair it, bide your time as you've said you recognise her. Take pics on your mob before repair and confront her with it. If she gives you the bird then leave your mark to ease your mind.

Had this happen to me 24hours into my S3 ownership, to say I was ****** is an understatement. Unfortunately for me, there was three of them and one of me, they just flat denied it and said I was just after money. They even suggested I call the police if I was that bothered about it, but I was in a carpark, and no one was hurt, so I doubt they could do much to be honest? The worst thing about my incident was one of them was pregnant, and used it against me, saying she was under stress from the shouting, so I had to back down and walk away.

Life goes on they say....

I don’t hold out much hope for you tbh but id go along the lines of Nbray67 and take some photos, get the work done and if you see her be polite and explain what she did, say you called out to her on the day it happened be you think she did not hear you?

Wright down now the day and time it happened, and take a photo of where in the Tesco car park you was parked to show her, it may jog her memory.
If she has a heart she may pay-up?

If it was me.. id not takeout revenge on her car… as you said “lesson learnt”

If she is brazen enough to do it in the 1st place she will have the front to tell you to f&&k off if you confront her now.

She needs a donkey punch in the fadge

wait for that cow and write in big letters on her car bonnet with your key, "B****" , that will do the trick... Although you'll still have a door to repair, but you'll feel better :)

It's one of those things you ever sort out on the spot or forget it sadly. Years back I was in a carpark and a car pulls up really close beside my car, the guy in the car was a huge fat bloke in his 50's and the car was tatty. I knew what would happen, he had a foot at most and needed 5 times that to get out.

I walked between the cars and refused to let him out, he looked a bit puzzled and I repeated that he was too fat to get out of his car without bashing my car and would need to park further away. His face was priceless, but he soon got the message he was not being allowed out of his car and moved. i think he wanted to cause me harm hahah.

hahahahaha this had me in stitches!

This is why I always park far away and defensively in car parks lol

Had this before, in Tescos too, but in my daughters car, a woman in a brand new cooper came flying into the space next to me, opened her door that felt like she had booted it open and wacked my daughters car, i flew out of the car and said EXCUSE ME!! she turned around and give me the finger, and carried on into the shop, i could not believe it, so i went around the car and back heeled her quarter panel with all my anger....., god did that feel good, Rugby ball size dent/caved in, and to top it all off there was not a mark on my daughters car,, it had it the rubber strip.... :arco:

KILL, KILL, KILL THEM ALL!!!!.....lol

Ok so maybe a bit OTT but when you spend as much time as some of us do looking after our pride n joys, keeping them in good nick, clean and loved / looked after, its like a mjaor kick in the nuts!!

Some people / a lot of people these days actually have absolutely no respect for others peoples property.......In days gone by they'd just get a kicking there n then in the car park, end of, but times change.

Personally, I try to always park as far away as possible ( DEFENSIVELY ).......On occasion I still come back to find cars parked next to me....lol

As mentioned you've kinda missed the boat if you didn't confront her at the time.

My story - 7 years ago (I was 23) sat outside my house in my mk2 Escort waiting for the traffic to go by so I could get out and a 50yr old guy drives up my street and knocks the wing mirror right round. He stops and looks at me guiltily, I shout WTF, and just drives off slowly as the street is tight with cars parked either side. So I wound the window down and throw my multi-tool at his car in a fit of rage. One of the 'pointy' tools bursts his tyre. He gets out up the road and comes back and confronts me asking if it was my multi-tool. I laughed and said "yeah my wing mirror is f**kin broken, thanks for asking you total d*ck". He waddles off and changes his tyre in the street.

OK, I shouldn't have thrown anything sharp at his car but he just looked at me after he hit my car. I just lost my sh*t when he drove off. Managed to find a new wing mirror off eBay but he had a £100 hole in his tyre. I bet he won't drive off ever again.

These people need to learn a life lesson in respect for other people and their property.

(I don't keep a multi-tool in my car any more, just some 'spare' brake fluid...just in case).

Some complete thick f****g b***h opened her door into my S3 just after I got it at a petrol station because she was parked SO far away from the pump in the middle of nowhere. She hit forward of the wheel arch and caused no damage, but lets say she got a stern talking to about her clumsy lack of regard for other people!

We were in B&Q a few years ago in my wife's 306. She decided to stay in the car with the kids and while waiting a guy parked besides us and opened his door on the car. He didn't say a thing, so she opened the door and said excuse me. He turned around, said nothing, then carried on walking.

So when I returned I 'accidentally' opened the door a bit hard on his. He's probably still got a small blue line down the side of the trim of his white door!

Good work.

I hate these arrogant `Im so important` pretend wannabe-wag types who charge about, music blasting, putting daft sunglasses on and facebooking their mates all at the same time as driving up some ones chuff.
Usualy with those tragic `Babe on Board` stickers.

Even more repelent than the stereotypical boy racer.

Hurrumph..

I had a bloke stood there while his brat bashed the side of my car 5 or 6 times with their door. When I shouted "careful mate" the bloke just looked at me and said "it's only a car, get over yourself". I would love to say I ripped into him but I was so gobsmacked I just stood there as he drove away. As his comment processed I was fuming but then it was too late.

I really couldn't beleive how he was so unashamed of what his offspring were doing to somebody elses property.

I try very hard to park away from other cars to avoid things like this. My cab was in for a service today so Audi lent me a 3 month old A1, popped into the small supermarket on the way back still on the loan car, parked it away from the front kind of in the back third of the car park, within 30 seconds of stopping a beat up transit parks right next to me so I sat in it until he had got out just in case. There wasnt another car within 35 to 40 metres of me do why park next to me !

Course the other problem is darn parking bays being too narrow !

Had a stupid frenchman park right up against the wifes Golf , we were on the beach but when I returned you could see where they had rubbed the door on ours as they squeezed out of the car. So I left my foot print in the middle of their door and wrote a rather rude word in big capitals with my car key on the other door.

Eased the pain :)

I tend to park over two spaces at Tesco (not sure if its aloud) but it means you still have half a space either side of the car for people to open there doors. Few people say (Park next to a nice car as they wont damage there's) but this seems not to be the case these days. It baffles me how people blatantly don't give a s**t about other peoples cars.

Cant believe how many folk are quite happy to hit out against the cars of anyone who does this.

Sorry, but that makes you just as bad as them - whether its leaving footprints, dents, scratches or emptying brakefluid over someone elses car....... absolute lowest of the low.

If you have a problem with someone, take it up with them in person, dont take it out on their car.

Got back from B&Q a couple of days ago to find two scratch lines on the bonnet of my s4, only 5cm long but through two the metal.
Must have been some f***er loading something into the car in front.
