Hi guys,

It's that time again, the light is on, and it needs a service. She is now 5 years old, and has always had an Audi main dealer service.

I am considering using a local Bosch garage instead, easier to get to and slightly cheaper.

What do you think?

I had 2 years free servicing from Audi when I got Kara, since then I've used a local indy specialist, just as good a service (if not better at times) and a fair bit cheaper.
Never used just a local non specialist garage but probably worth a google search of your area to see what's available.
Ultimstely would a FASH make that much of a difference to the vehicle value at that age or is it more for your peace of mind?

Thanks Reload, In answer to your question, the only reason I would get an Audi stealer service would be for the stamp in the service book when I come to sell the car.

I need to find a good local independent, I used to have a garage in Amersham but it is too far for me now.

I live in Biggleswade, but travel to most places around NW and E London. Anyone know a good garage?

Supply and fit front brake pads from Audi stealer in Hitchin, fixed price £139. Local garage £77.

Hmmmmm

I use a local garage, he uses all the genuine oil and parts and i have been going to him for 19 years or so now with my cars.

I use Audi Main Dealer mainly due to the fixed price servicing which is actually very reasonably priced.

I had something go wrong with my A4 (its out of warranty) and Audi made a 100% contribution towards the cost of the part and the Customer Service Manager at Audi UK said that as my A4 had a full Audi Service History and that as it had been recently serviced at an Audi Main Dealer, that was the reason they made the good will gesture. He further stated that more often than not, that if you keep up the service history with Audi Main Dealers, they make will make a contribution towards costs if anything goes wrong.

I only just found out actually that if you have your services within the Audi Network they will help you out with a few problems if it is out of warranty, but i don't really keep them 3 years anyway to be honest :p

Really. My local stealership charge almost that by the hour! In fact it was recommended that I should change my discs aswell which took the total bill to nearly £400!

Agreed. After my major dilemma last month Audi wavered the cost of the parts and gave me a reduced hourly rate.

Prior to getting a service I had the brake pads changed today due to the warning light, new front pads fitted £68 asll in, and the pads have the sensors so I would get the same warning again when they wear out.

Half the price? WTF!
