Hi Guys,
Been waiting for some ok weather to a spot of window tinting and vinyl wrapping,
Didnt want to put this in the A1 forum as it would get lost and i thought it would be a good topic for everyone to see, not just A1 specific lol.

She started off as a full Amalfi white S-Line, now shes almost a black edition lol

This was my first ever attempt at tinting windows and first time wrapping since i attended a wrapping course. It went pretty well!

Grill only took around 40 mins to do and looks very OEM which is good, im glad i went with gloss over matte black.

Hope you like!

Looks good mate, well done, only thing I would do if it was me would be to remove the S badge from the back, I would probably just keep it clean.

Wicked!
I think a black roof would be sweet as well but as it is looks just as good

Looks like a top effort. Would do the roof also just so it looks more finished if you know what i mean but only my opinion. Nice to be Unique!

This is what i was going for

And this is what i ended up with

I like it.

If it was all black it might look a little like a Convertible due to the pillars, windows and roof being black.

Although the Clubsport Quattro Concept has a black roof and a white spoiler which looks cool.

Best of all, its vinyl, so i can change my mind at will lol

Ahh fair enough, looks good either way. Do you have any more plans for it?

Not at the moment, still trying to track down someone to do some VCDS mods for me without robbing me lol.
I just want a few fancy gimmicks like hill hold assist and needle sweep etc...
Dont want to remap her yet as she has 2 years warranty and 4 years servicing and i dont want to break her for he sake of 15hp...

I already have the Technology pack, HDD nav, HDD jukebox, electronic climate control, comfort pack, rear parking sensors, dvd player, USB/SD/iPhone input, LED interior pack, cruise control etc...

Bought some Canbus LED side lights as i didnt get the Xenons (i wish i had them)

Only possibility in the future may be Black Edition alloys, but the S-Line ones are nice enough... maybe i should paint the S-Line wheels gun metal grey or something...

Ill keep my eyes out for the LED rear lights if any ever appear at a good price...

Not got many things to change as the S-Line has everything i needed and all the extras added all the tech i needed lol

Haha with all that Tech it'll be like the Death Star inside!

Yeah i think the only thing i could think of was black wheels. The ones you have would look good black but i would say that as i have a bit of a fetish for black wheels at the moment!

I have no idea what 'Needle sweep' is lol

Yeah im keeping my eyes out for replica wheels or possibly doing my wheels.
Not sure if i like black wheels or prefer something in between.
I think mine are classed as 'titanium' silver, but im thinking a darker shade would looks pretty good.

Needle sweep..
Audi A1 Needle Sweep - YouTube

Yeah Gunmetal maybe? or maybe go crazy and go Red :arco:

Why would you get a needle sweep then? looks good but cant see why lol

I havent the foggiest idea why i need it, its just a test feature that can be switched on via VCDS, and i want it lol.

Like hill assist... i dont need it but i want it, and the double beep when locking, i want it lol.

As for the car... shes just so damn sexy i dont think she needs much else doing to her lol

Haha fair enough! The car does look good. You fancy coming to do my grill for me :whistle2:

Me coming to you and me doing your grill?
Too many "Me's" in that sentence!
I may start doing black grills for people as ive had alot of people asking.
Where are you??

Haha you should do it on the side for a bit of extra cash....of course telling Mr. Taxman :ninja:

I'm in Darlington.

P.S Technically there is only one me in the sentence i wrote :jester:

Your abit of a trek away from me lol

152 miles

Just buy some vinyl and have a bash with it, 1metre is enough to do your grill twice and a little left over for whatever else...

Its pretty easy to use, just takes patience and abit of prep.

Plasti-dip sounds like it could be messy and awkward?

It looks simple enough so i think i'd try that first. Patience is one thing i dont have so Vinyl would not be a good idea for me haha.

Looks superb mate, great work.

For me, debadge apart from the Audi rings, will look super clean then!

Then black alloys too lol, would look fantastic

Thats a very good attempt mate for 1st time, can only get better.

Question time, what do you use to cut it with to remove excess, but still get a good line/fit without so much of dodgy look or damage to paintwork as such & who did you do the course with, thanks.

1) i use a craft knife for cutting, you just have to be very careful and light with it, it doesn't damage your pain though 😊

2) I did the course with MDP supplies in brombrough (Wirral) £95+VAT Sign Vinyl - Application Tape - Sign Supplies | MDP Supplies

In a turn of events... i removed the wraps (above) to have a play with Plasti-Dip... which didn't go well (it came off the next day) so i kept it white for a while... then re-wrapped it again!

The roof is now black, with the contrast lines and the boot

I got the windows tinted at 'ultimate tinting St. Helens)
Window Tinting - MERSEYSIDE - United Kingdom - Ultimate Tinting Merseyside

They did a great job!
Got all 5 windows done, fronts where a very very light tint and the rears where about the same as the black edition tints.
Very pleased with the work!

They also wrapped the roof and contrast lines this time, they did me a very good deal and saved me the effort!
They do full wraps too!

And before anyone posts it... I am aware that tinting the front side windows is illegal/questionable but I was willing to take a chance.
My last car has the exact same tints for over 5 years and it was ok.
If you don't go for 'drug dealer' limo tints on the front, you tend to get away with it.

Adamck when you wrapped your grill did you do the whole thing or just the chrome and did you remove the grill to do it?

I did a little wrapping on my last car but I'm considering doing a course and becoming a bit more adventurous!

I've just got an A3 8P and it has the walnut interior so the plan is to wrap that with carbon fibre vinyl ASAP an then possibly use the left over vinyl to do the grill and wing mirrors. Dont know how a carbon fibre grill will look but as you said its vinyl so it can be changed easilly enough!
