i'm only 18 and have had my fair share of been lucky with drivin nice cars! so far a mondeo ST24, Jag XJR8 (V8 supercharged) and a BMW 330d.... although my car is quick considering i'm 18 it just doesnt feel anywhere near as good as them.... ooo and i drove my mates mini 1litre last week.... lovin it! So come on wat cars hav u guys driven that are different, fast or rare?

Formula Palmer Audi at Jonathan Palmer Day, Bedford Aerodrome - the best driving event I've ever been to. Also got to race Caterhams, Evo VI's, Lotus Exige's, VX220 turbo's, Clio Cup's and get driven round the track in a special 2 seater FPA by a madman, superb!

BMW DINAN D-8
Supercharged DINAN tuned BMW 850i, windows automatically go up at 110MPH...they went up pretty quick after I started driving

Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sport quattro on hand cut slicks, damp road and David Sutton sat next to me saying 'give it some more..!'

Maybe not the fastest but definitely the scariest. Hark the Herald Axles Swing!!!

an absolutely loopy caterham type thing of a neighbours, with a 6 cylinder honda bike engine in it.. fantastic!!!! no idea how fast, was too busy loving every moment!

not the fastest but with huge road presence - an armoured personnel carrier. 1000hp RR diesel engine.

Top speed-wise it was probably my uncle's manual Audi S8 which happily did an indicated 280kph on the Autobahn.

Otherwise Lotus Elise or Nissan 350Z probably, both of which felt a bit quicker than my S3.

Ferarri F355 F1 round a track on a ferrari experience day for my 21st. ******' amazing, loved the paddle shift gear change. Maybe one day I'll have 1 (by the time I'm 60 I reckon a 40 year old 355 would be pretty reasonable eh!).

Oh and a Testarossa on the same day - crashed that into a big metal post! hehe

RS6 plus......god did I scare the owner shitless, well and my self also. Felt like a rocket exploding behind my back when I put my foot down

Had a go in my boss's TVR cerbera

now that was /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif quick, only problem was that I came out nearly deaf

Ariel Atom, Still considering whether to get one or not!! simply amazing performance.....

Before that VolvoT5 R.

Dux

911 GT3. Followed closely by a F360 Spider.

Both life changing experiences /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Been in a XJ220, an SLR and a Vanquish.

but fast cars ive actually driven, to name a few (i sound like such a tw@t) have been a New M3, old M5 with the V8, Escort Cossie (530 BHP), Nissan Pulsar (300BHP) Skyline R33 GTS (400bhp), 996 Turbo with some RUF tuning, a few Scoobys, a few Evos, and a fair few others. Scariest car ive ever been in was a Formula Vauxhaul 1 Seater round a few tracks. So twitchy its unreal but lots of fun when you've got use to it! only annoying thing was that it was set up for a foriegn driver so the gear stick was on the right!

The fatsest was the porsche by far!

fastest thing ive drove is my new vovlo S60 T5..... but you all know what im gonna say next.......
if its speed your after...get on a bike.....

Not so...
Maybe if you want acceleration...but for pure speed point to point, it's not as clear cut as that.

On racetracks and many suitable roads, cars are quicker point to point.
You can take more liberties with a car..and it's more forgiving.

You can carry more corner speed in a decent car...and take more speed upto the braking point...even get on the power harder and faster in a car.

We passed many more bikes round the Nurburgring recently (20+) compared to bikes that passed us (3...of which one binned it 2 corners later).

I used to ride a Fireblade...so I do have experience of both!

fair doo's ess3...... valid points accepted..... but we both know who'd win on acceleration....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile_smoking.gif

Absolutely...
But invariably at the end of the straight, there is a demon braking zone and set of corners. A great leveller of machinery...

The rush of hooking up a perfect 1-2-3-4-5-6 change coming off a roundabout on a big bike does take some beating though!

All standard evos from 4 to 8 were 280bhp I have de-catted mine and put a 3" cat back system on it which will explain the 300bhp claimed, I reckon your Audi would be hard to beat, I had a Ibiza Cupra 1.8 20VT and whilst it was nippy the way the evo puts it power down is awesome, I think it would be close, but for christmas I'm having a re-map and should get about 350ish and about same torque /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif
