That was Johnny...one of David's mates in his 964 C4.

David was co-driving mine.

The tyres worked superbly...barely any wear all week...especially when set to correct Nurburgring pressures as advised by a friendly local with a GT3!

We never tried a flat out run...but saw 165 when cruising.

Hairy moments?
Yeah...two. Both on the same corner at the 'ring, Both due to driver panic and lifting off...both by me.
This corner then became known as 'PSM corner' as without it I'd have a very large repair bill to pay.

No hairy moments with Dave driving - although as car owner I was known to take a few deep inhalations of breath whilst pressing the 'imaginary' brake pedal!
 
Thats very good of you to let David have a blast. Top guy you must be!!

I have seen David at Knockhill and he is pretty good with the S3.

David and I have shared cars before...he is one of the few (very few) I do trust with my car.

He's also 20 seconds a lap quicker round the 'ring than I am...even in my car!

I had the title deeds to his house as security though...

nice car EssThree! I used to drive a 911 very much like the blue one in the very last photo. Can you tell me what the red 911 is, saw one like this on the M20 a while ago, from in front I thought he had his bonnett on the catch!

David around / just under 9.00.
Perhaps 8.50 on a good lap.

Glen just over 9.00....maybe 8.05 on a good lap (a very good lap!)

Roger (Evo 4) well under 9.00...around 8.40, if not faster...video proven. F'in quick!

Johnny, in the 964 C4 also around 9.00 minutes I'd guess.

To be honest...we never did too much serious timing...it was my car after all...and 1000 miles home...so you have to at least try to be sensible at times like these!

It was the first red 911 but both have the black insert at the bottom of the bonnett, the central yellow GT2 also has it but not the outer one? I have also seen the Ruf without this insert, must be optional venting.

Indeed they do...the first is a factory GT2 (body coloured slat accross the main radiator inlets in the front bumper)...the second is a Ruf R Turbo (different shaped front bumper)


The black venting is the air outlet for the 3rd radiator which sits behind the low central bumper vent...the air vents in front of the front compartment cover and reduces front end lift as it does so.

The yellow ones are GT3s (apart from mine, obviously) and one of them as a GT3 RS front bumper PU fitted.
This also includes 'vents' which allow smooth passage of the air over the 3rd radiator and out into the airstream.

No optional, as such...just optimised on the higher power output versions.
