I was watching some of the live coverage of space shuttle Discovery's final trip to Washington earlier, and was astonished to hear it had covered a grand total of 148 million miles!!! Its been on 39 missions, spent a total of 1 year in space and has orbited the earth almost 6000 times. What an amazing piece of kit. It'll be sad to them all decommissioned, but a well deserved retirement if you ask me!
