Well there is no date for strike action and may not be any, but the government as made it clear that we should have contingency plans ..... Spin doctors at there best IMO

Its all over health and safety disputes apparently. On about bringing in the military to drive the tankers if they strike.
Cameron booted off the rush by saying buy sensibly or something.

All sounds a bit ott to me.

Usually a good excuse to whack a few pence on :banghead:

Has anyone seen evidence of people forming queues outside branches of Greggs to panic-buy hot pasties?

mmmmm hot pasties!! haha

yeh sounds like the gov are taking us for idiots... how did the rich get richer? all sounds like a conspiracy to me... the price goes up and they pocket it all...

I think your not far wrong,we are becoming sheep as we just do what we are told, some half-wit minister says fill up your car and jerry can and everyone follows the advice wtf have we all become idiots overnite ?

apparantly this half wit minister is bieng asked to resign over a one thirtytwoth wit female that thought it was a good idea to jug petrol from one container to another in her kitchen with a gas cooker that was on.And surprisingly has 40% burns lol.How stupid can you get.....but according to The Sun its the governments fault.

Agreed, but what they are saying she would be having a normal weekend now if it was not for the half witted minister/gov if it was never mentioned in the first place,, yes she or/and the family are extremely irresponsible, and a sheep , but she is probably scarred for life now... for something that probably isn't going to happen.
Any way fool or not, i hope she makes a speedy recovery ...

The trouble is you have to "panic" because of all the muppets that panicked. I mean, I had to get some fuel when I heard the announcement because I knew everyone would be queuing at the pumps. Remember last time it happened? I do, I lived right near to the fuel depot in Hemel Hempstead (before it blew up) and the tankers that were driving had a police escort.

Someone in the thread is from Aus, well it was like Mad Max in Hemel when the last strike happened.

People panic and take more petrol than they need and that causes the problem. Like when Northern Rock crashed, it was because everyone panicked and withdrew all their savings.

It is a dangerous game, and without doubt the government minister knew the risks, but still decided to cause panic. Obviously a political move, whatever spin they put on it. And I think it was reckless behaviour.

Once the fuel starts running out then the run on the supermarkets begin. Watch that Water, Milk and bread run out

And all of this because of one government minister who decided to get one over on the Unite union.

I have filled my tank. No more than usual, no extra cans, and I will drive slowly to conserve fuel.

But when I run out I just won't be able to get to work, tough cookie really.
