FWD plus DSG plus a TURBO plus a REMAP is an even bigger fail in the snow.

Haha. I felt ridiculous, borrowed next doors snow shovel digging away. Jumped in the motor gave him a toot and a see ya later and went no where.

Reversed off the drive and continued to spin up on the spot.

Last year, stage 2+, newly fallen snow, just legal (**** in snow) Toyo Proxes T1R (235/35/19's), and we didn't get stuck once, even up a steep hill into Brackley in Northants.

To be honest we were astonished given the state of the tyres we got off so lightly, but tell me this...

How if your front (driven) tyres with the weight over them cant get traction, can adding your rears into the equation keep the car going?? I've always seen Haldex as a very poor Quattro substitute but it's actually not too bad.

actually, I lie, the one thing that did stop us was my wife's parents driveway where the front bumper dug deep into snow.

I thought the FWD Audi cars would be OK. Surprised by reading this.

I never got stuck once in my Rav4, I was only held up by other motorists! Biggest culprits are BMW 1-series, then a mixture of 3 and 5 series, beemers are really turd in the snow, but I guess you guys know that already! Still, there was a few fwd Audi's that I had to overtake aswell, a B8 Avant TDI was just wheelspinning all over the place, do they not know how to feather the throttle?

Driving standard are just poor, people just don't know what to do, once on the move, it seems wheelspin is the only was to keep moving!
You've got to have a laugh!

i guess as BMWs are rear wheel drive with the engine/weight at the front they have very little traction available for the rear wheels

My FWD A3 is poor in the snow due to wide tyres. Should keep a set of space savers for winter LOL

Good point Jojo, the driving standards are piss poor. So many people today lighting up front wheels in slush because they are per-programmed to drive in digital on/off mode. No car empathy at all. I'm not sure 10 year driving tests would cure it either as too many people get hung up on ego behind the wheel. Dip****s.
