Here goes:
1. 1st car...a 1986 Nova 1.0 base model ..added spotlights and noisy exhaust! Bought in 1989 after passing my test.
2. 1990 Nova 1.4 SR - bought new and kept for over 6 years...tuned everything, Group A rear beam, discs all round, remote reservoir coilovers, 15" wheels, Blydenstein racing 1.6 engine on twin 40s (140 BHP / 130 lb-ft) close ratio gear kit and ZF LSD...absolutely mental...did most of the work myself, the car was featured in CCC mag in 1996 and won 7th place in the best converted car of the year 1997!
An absolute beast...sold it in 1997 when Novas were obtainable by the Max Power tossers!
Awesome car round Knockhill!
3. Got sensible and bought a Golf GTI 2.0 8v from my dad...added an AmD rechip, coilovers, 17" BBS RX alloys, Remus exhaust...good reliable car.
No good round Knockhill!
4. Missed the Nova's lunacy...so passed my test and bought a Fireblade! 1993 RRP model (the last of the twin headlights with the more mental engine!)...to be continued...
As if passing your test and straight onto a fireblade wasn't lunacy enough...
5. Still missed the trackday feel of the Nova, so bought a 1986 shed of a Fiesta XR2.
Fully stripped and caged, new bottom end, ported head, twin 40s, Emerald phase 3 race cam, Avo shocks / springs...kevlay bucket seats & harnesses etc...
Back on form at Knockhill! Yee-ha!
6. Sold the Golf and bought a new 1999 Honda Integra Type-R..which is the best car I have ever driven!..added Mugen anti roll bars, JDM 16" wheels, Mugen exhaust / JDM cat, Eibach springs, JDM dampers, Mardigras Motorsport suspension settings, uprated brakes...what a tool!
Setting personal bests every day at Knockhill...on slicks!
Crashed the Fireblade...almost killing myself, sold the XR2 to finance Fireblade pt2:
Re-built the 'blade with a single side swing arm, 6 pot front calipers, 320mm discs, Ohlins dampers, Harris everything, carbon bodywork, Factory Pro Racing engine parts, Ohlins 916 style steering damper, PVM magnesium wheels (17" front), Dragon Corsa's and a full Red Bull race replica paintjob...awesomw! Just too much for me!
7th. Wet day + mud on the road + trackday set up ITR = write off. Bye bye ITR.
Bye bye Fireblade too...too much bike for too little riding ability!
Cash insurance cheque, add to fireblade cash and hello new 2001 Audi S3 quattro....decided that I would leave this standard (Ha!) I bought a smashed 17000 mile Corrado VR6 as a track car project...ongoing.
8th, Got the chance of my dad's mint Mk3 Golf GTI 16v Anniversary model...at a decent price...so bought it too.
So there I am....currently with 3 cars:
A 1993 Corrado VR6 track car / Hillclimb / Spring project...in progress, BVH, Large bore TB, Schrick manifold etc...ongoing...probably re-shell it into a 3 dr Golf sometime.
A 2001 Audi S3...the same car that was going to be left standard...274.5BHP / 332 lb-ft later, with 18" BBS RS IIs, lowered and uprated suspension, FMIC, brake upgrades, Milltek exhaust / cats, aggressive suspension settings etc...
A 1996 Mk3 Golf GTI 16v Anniversary...AmD re-chip, parts sitting for major engine upgrade (just not enough time), Koni coilovers, Eibach anti roll bars, EBC brakes, modified airbox, Milltek exhaust etc...
I guess I'm just a serial modifier...and as such should probably be locked up for wasting vast sums of money...from the humble origin of a 1.0 base model Nova...to 3 of the best VAG cars of their type ever built...
I wish I was sensible! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/idea.gif
I also wish my dad would stop buying interesting cars and offering them to me cheap when he's done with them!
I still miss the Honda ITR...come to think of it, I still miss the Nova!
So, that's 8 cars and 1 bike in 15 years...
