I keep my itunes library on an external HD which has recently been FUBAR, so am only left with the copies on the ipod itself (a 30gb Classic). I need to copy those (4500) tunes from the ipod back onto the PC so I can start synching with itunes again.

I tried following a guide from Google but it didn't seem to work for me. There are plenty of programs available for purchase to do it, but I don't really want to pay to move MY music from MY ipod to MY PC.....

I know there are some IT folk on here, can anyone help?

You can put your iPod music on to your iTunes by using idump.
