    Pistonheads

It looks like piston heads has stopped free adverts,
It's a shame as it was a good site for looking for cars.

Not entirely. I've you've been a member for a certain period of time its still free.

I joined 4 years ago and i can still post ads for free..

Still better than Autotrader IMO, you seem to find better looked after cars on PH

Yes, I found this out last week, but I guess they have to stop dodgy car sales in some way! A free to advertise website with a whole load of car enthusiasts to see your car, what's not to like?

Stuck the BMW in my sig on Autotrader in the end for £44, had 5 enquiries in the last 2 days already. Autotrader is still king when it comes to selling general cars, but you have to pay for the service! Niche/specialist cars I would still use Pistonheads, it's only £7 or something including 9 photos.

It's a long story, I was only given permission to drop the price last week, so someone is getting a bargain if they turn up and offer me a stupid cash offer waving some money in front of me.

Autotrader imho is crap, never sold a car through that site & hate the sales tactics aswell, however, sold every single car through pistonheads no problem & tbh I'd still pay a charge on that site as it has done me good everytime.

Can't disagree more Nige, though it's probably the type of car you are wanting to sell? Had so many enquiries for the BMW in the first week on autotrader. OK, it cost £44, but it was a whole load of calls and emails, they was real people aswell, none of this nigerian crap people talk about, and sold it within 10 days! Once I stopped the trader ad, the calls(I used call safe) and emails stopped aswell, so all is good!

Rare and high performance cars though, Pistonheads is still king!

This is true, selling a shoe like the 1 series stands to reason autotrader lmfao

Although I love the coupe 1 series, reminds me of the old 335i stance tbh, appealing if I'm honest.

Nige, it was horrible telling everyone who came to view it what a good car it was with fuel economy to boot, but it was the complete opposite! lol
1.6 was really underpowered with fuel economy marginally better than my 260bhp S3! Good riddance!

To be fair, it's a nicely built hatchback, not quite upto VW/Audi built quality in terms of materials used and touch, and they are well specc'd with electric everything, so a good buy for someone, just not my type of machine to own and drive! If I had to buy a 1-series, it has to be a TDI or a high end petrol!

totally agree with you. I'm not a fan of the 1 series, much prefer the 5 series.

Ahhh well that explains why i havent been able to view 'standard ads'.

Quite annoying that as people often just looked at the first pages leaving the minters for us who knew where to look (usually page 22 for s3's lol)

we advertised a 07 320d msport on autotrader, advertised it slightly under what everyone else did, and it was gone the next day, good riddens at £280/ per tyre for runflats

So, it was down for maintenance today and now it's back it has been RUINED.

got to admit, that's my first reaction to it on first opening the page today. But since they have started charging for all adverts, I guess this is where the money has gone to, to maintain the sales side of PH.

We'll just get use to it overtime I guess....
