Misuse of disabled parking spaces - nameandshame.org - please read & support.

    Hi All,

This is a plea to you all; to have a look at this site, and support it as much as you can.

    www.nameandshame.org

It's a relatively new site, and in my opinion, deserves support.

NB: Feel free to discuss the issue; but I'll be perfectly clear - if you're able-bodied (ie don't have a blue badge issued in accordance with doctors' advice) there is NO justification for using one of these spaces as far as I'm concerned. "I'll only be 30 seconds" "It was raining" "There were no other spaces" "The shop was closed" - those excuses, like all the rest, are bulldust. [So, if you venture on this thread that you think it's OK to break the rules, expect your post to be deleted at the very least, and if you catch me on the wrong day, account deletion/personal insults/a visit to your home with a f**king big hammer for your knees] - thank you kindly.

    Regards,

    Rob.
The truth they're trying to keep from you is that IPv6 has nothing to do with address space; we're actually running out of full stops.

I agree with you on that one Rob, it really boils my blood! Since my mother suffers from MS we require the use of Disabled spaces quite often and there is nothing worse when a non disable person is parked in a space! ..

And what if you were picking up a disabled relative, and they hadn't given your their blue badge, or met them inside the supermarket? Not always as clear cut as it seems, though most of the time it is. Or if you hadn't yet received a disabled badge or it's forgotten, or a temporary condition?

Also there are a lot of "disabled" people on DLA who are fit and well, they just enjoy a state funded lifestyle.

Not justifying the abuse of disable parking, but sometimes it isn't as simple as no blue badge = parking abuser.

Then it's tough titty, i'm afraid.
The only way of getting anywhere near to stopping disabled bay abuse is by having a 'no badge, no park' rule.

Good point well made. My only argument about the case highlighted above is the sluthenly approach to parking it across multiple disabled bays therefore affecting other disabled people. I often see these vehicles driven with equal laziness and lack of consideration so it was an easy taget for venting!

Was that Navara actually parked and unattended? Or was the driver still in it?

But sanctions are pretty much unenforceable on private land. You don't have to pay the supermarket parking tickets because they're a civil matter.

And there there's the people who use disabled badges when their disabled passengers aren't with them to park in disabled bays. Obviously the guy with an 85 year old disabled mother who left her badge at home has more right to park in the bay than someone who has the badge and no passenger.

All I'm saying is that people's disabilities aren't always immediately obvious and that people do forget their badges.

What are people's views on someone using a disabled badge to not pay for pay and display tickets, when the don't have a disabled passenger with them (Obviously not using a disabled space...)

I understand where you are coming from but there are always going to be people who obtain or use disabled badges who don't have the right to do so. But by also saying it's ok for people who should be able to use the bays but do not have a badge for whatever reason you are just opening the door even wider for abuse of these bays.

For me it's simple..... these disabled bays are for people WHO HAVE badges. If you don't have one, for any reason, then you can't park there. Even though there may be genuine reasons why you should be able to park there, you just can't.

Its like anything where you need a particular document/badge/etc to gain access or use something (i.e. a passport, a security pass, a resident parking permit, a cinema ticket). You may have a 100% genuine and truthful reason why you don't have the necessary document, but if you don't actually have it then sorry but your luck's out.

It sounds harsh but if we start allowing for "excuses" relating to why badges etc are not being used then we may as well do away with the badges altogether, because how will we ever know who has a genuine reason for not having a badge and who is just trying it on.

Disabled spaces are courtesy only unless it specifically says otherwise (ie you will be fined etc). If thre is no signs, any bugger can park there - this applies to the ones in residential streets 99.9% of the time too.

Indeed, no badge no park. I can't get into work without my badge. Rules are rules. Stick to them! There should be security on the beat at all times and fine all the disobedient fkrs on the spot.

Registered Disabled is different to DLA. Blue Badge holders need a Doctor to sign it off, DLA is a form you fill in and send to the social services. DLA can therefore be abused by people exaggerating their level of ability, but a Blue Badge is far harder to get as the Doctor has to agree that you are physically disabled. They are similar, but different. You could get DLA with a backache, but not a Blue Badge.

I couldn't see the driver. I don't know where he/she was. It was there for the 5 minutes I was there. I then left so I don't know how much longer he/she was there. It was an Asda car park.

Anyway, it isn't the crime of the century, but it does show how ignorant people are. And ignorance seems to be a growing issue in this country.

Now that looks very much like our local Asda the other week when the "travellers" where in town, took over the whole place and I mean took over!! There was about 1500 caravans turn up in a town that has a population of about 25k. They all drive brand new trucks like that and have absolutely no consideration for others whatsoever!!

Indeed they are, in fact no private car parking company has ever even taken somebody to court, let alone lost a case. I never pay parking charges if i've got a ticket, in fact I very rarely pay for parking full stop these days unless it's a council car park.
