Evening all...
I just got back from a week in Blackpool, during which time my A6 developed a nasty noise/ vibration through the steering column when pulling full left or right lock.
I did a search for local Audi specialists and came up with this: Service My Audi - Home, which looked pretty decent.
Long story short, I went over, spoke to the proprietor (who in fairness was a decent bloke), and he put the car up on the ramp to have a look.
He told me it needed a new alternator pulley and damper assembly - total cost to me £320!
One quick call to Star Performance in Kirkcaldy (my regular garage) and he told me to run a mile!
Today, after getting home, I took the car over to Star Performance. Within 45 minutes of arriving it was fixed. Total cost to me £120 including VAT.
Turned out all it needed was the pulley - it looks like the shop in Lancashire tried to sell me something I simply didn't need.
I don't know if anyone else here has used this garage, but I wanted to share my experience with the forum.
And, yet again, Star Performance have been fantastic.
