What do people use to edit their images. . . . i understand that you cant put your reg on for some reason :S i see pictures with swirls in the reg how do you do it?

Once you have uploaded your pic on there, there's an 'Edit' button, and you just click on that and look for Effects>Distort.

The Gimp (free tool, similar to Photoshop)
And occasionally Paint.
