yep, i'm doing mine too... its just restoring my backed up data.
if your already jb on 5.0.1 then you can do it through cydia and make it untethered.

JAILBREAK IPHONE 4 5.0.1 UNTETHERED WITH REDSN0W 0.9.10


i made a stupid mistake though... i forgot to do a pkgbackup of my cydia stuff... last backup i have is like a couple months old :(
 
I've just started from scratch with mine, complete phone restore. I have had problems in the past restoring from a backup, and it removes all my unwanted stuff.

Just about to jailbreak it now, i had to remove my last jailbreak and update to 5.0.1 as i was sat at 5.0 still.
 
i just did the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.0.1 but all i did was make a custom ispw with redsnow and then did a restore that way. much quicker and it gives you the option to start from scratch or restore from backup
 
Shall be doing this later, I'm still back in the V3's.. nice one boys. Is there an untethered out for iPad ??
 
yes ipad 1 can be done

You can quickly access, download & install Corona 5.0.1 Untether (Chronic Dev team’s version, packaged in the Cydia store) for your iPhone 4, iPhone 4 (CDMA), iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G & iPod Touch 3G *CURRENTLY RUNNING iOS 5.0.1* by following the steps below:
Open the Cydia app on your tethered jailbroken device**
Search for “Corona”
Hit the “Install” button

i have installed cydia and rebooted a few times and it comes back perfect! last night the battery drained out so this morning i woke up to find the apple logo on screen... thank fully that wont happen again :)
 
Have you got yours jail broken sandra?

Adh Is there an untethered for iPad2 couldn't see one when I looked.

That's why I stay away from tethered, mines always going dead on me.

Yes i have Damo, i dont know if there is anything for ipad2 though.

Got mine jail broken earlier, all works fine. I stayed away from custom IPSW, I had difficulties in the past so just did a regular redsn0w jail break. Seems perfect so far. :D
 
As for siri, I installed that cydia app, but you need an iPhone 4s proxy server or something and I can't be bothered sorting that with my brother. I doubt I'd use Siri anyway.

The iPhone has had a lame version of voice control for ages dude. Siri is recent, and it's much better, but still useless I agree.

Damo, yes ios5 has iMessage. I think I still prefer whatsapp though.
 
iMessage is better i think as whatsapp uses your internet data (not a lot I know) and iMessage is really easy as its within your text messages.
 
iMessage still uses data, that's exactly how it works and how you can send iMessages between a non-3G iPad and an iPhone. They're both the same, but iMessage just sucks :)

And who doesn't have enough data these days? (apart from Scott who just downloads the entire porn collection each month)

I am indeed uncapped ;) it's the only way. Although on my previous contract I was getting 1gb and only using about 400mb a month. Think it's gone up a little recently, but only around 500mb ish.

You should try use iMessage, it's not bad but I just prefer whatsapp, and I think that might even be free now too.

Damo, get whatsapp, it is really good for images, text, video Nd such (crazy is about to find out).
It's free on android as well.

My jailbroken iPhone is working perfectly! All apps and tweaks restored and it reboots very quickly :)

Was fixing a mates MacBook earlier and was tethering the internet from the iPhone on the built in tether setting on ios 5.
 
Been able to use personal hot spot on all iOS haven't you. ?? If that's what you mean ash.

My MacBook battery died last night :( was working perfectly and suddenly it's failed and says I need a new one. Gutted.

£100 from Apple, or 30-40 from eBay...any advice?
 
Ha, that's all I can do :( it just refuses to charge it. It was still getting over 3 hours, how can it suddenly need replacing? I reckon it's a crappy chip inside which has decided :(

Be greatfull it never did a Dell (I think it was them).
Take the battery out and leave it, see what happens.
