I don't know if many of you know about the things that happen at the Nürburgring in Germany since around 2008.
Those of you who we're there in 09 and 10 will know that there is a huge leisure park round the GP track.

Not many of you might know that it's build with a public dept of around 350 million Euros (over 300 million GBP) as the Ring is not ruled by the government (State Rhineland-Palatinate) anymore but by two private investors (Mr. Lingner/Mr. Richter).
This leisure park is like a ghost town, not well visited by people and therefore many critic citizens think (not only motorists) a lot of taxpayers' money is burned and will be burned there.

Nürburgring Automotive GmbH (German form of Ltd.) spots huge minus figures in their balance sheet and therefore they raised prices for tourist rides, industrial testdrives and maybe track rental for trackdays organizers to a record niveau and bundled it with food vouchers of Nürburgring restaurants.
These people worry that the Nordschleife will be closed as the Ring GmbH might go insolvent in years.

In Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate), the state of Germany where the Nürburgring is located, on March 27th there are state elections. Therefore the people found SAVE THE RING as a website ( Save The Nurburgring! )and as a group on Facebook ( Save The Ring | Facebook ) to inform other people.
The Facebook Group was joined by 36,000 members in just four december weeks!
You can also sign an online petition to the European Commission on ( Your Help is needed to "Save The Nürburgring" Petition ).

I'd like you to read what happened and help us saving the ring.

All infos on: Save The Nurburgring! or join Mike's ring blog in english: 20832.com - Nurburgring Nordschleife

By the way, our star supporter is Sabine Schmitz, the ring taxi lady. Her christmas greetings video watched 75,000 times on YouTube:

I have 3 trips organised so far this year, anyone is welcome to tag along.

Another interesting point is that Kai Richter & Jorg Lidner in an effort to claw a few quid back have banned Ron Symons and all his employees/cars from the North Loop (blanket ban on RSR) obviousley endangering Rons business. On the same day they announce that they have decided to start renting 'ring cars themselves.

the whole charade is smelling more and more corrupt by the day IMHO.
