Evening all and hope everyones had a good crimbo!

So just before the big day i went out and bought this,

trouble is its not running too good, struggles to tick over and really bogs down between 6 & 9k rpm but after 9 revs nicely up to 13k, im gonna take off the carb soon and clean the jets etc.

Has anyone got any advice what else it could be other than what ive mentioned, its been a few years since my 2 stroke days so any advice or opinions appreciated.

Cheers, Dave.

the carb will prob need setting up

Change the spark plug as well. Even if old one is giving good spark change it.
Found my old 2 stroke dirty bike in my younger years use to eat them!

If she's bogging down early, it's getting too much fuel. As the revs build up it's getting the air flow to match the fuel. Is it a fully adjustable carb, and do you know if the jets in the carb have been fiddled with or is it a brand spanker?

I'd look at the usual 2 stroke mods, fibreglass reed valve etc.

easily overlooked but could be the mixture of 2t to petrol, does it smoke when it bogs down and what happens if you stab the throttle? does it sound any different with the choke on or partially on?
Other than that as already said jet sizes or carb setup, either way they are simple engines and a bit of tweaking will get it running sweet!
