SHOULD AUDI DRIVERS SUFFER FUEL PRICES???

    Subject: Petrol Prices Must Read.

The price of oil is as low as it has been for a while,
But the oil companies have simply jacked their prices up and the
government will not do anything as they rake in extra VAT for every
    increase.

See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it

We are hitting 114.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we
will be faced with paying 1.50 a litre. Philip Hollsworth offered this
    good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on
a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The
oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't
continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an
inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought
of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have
conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to
take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market
place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we
consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the
price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
    Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T PURCHASE ANY petrol FROM
the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be
inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other
companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to
reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really
    simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and
I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of
you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send
it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time
the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached
over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and
pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it
goes one level further, you guessed it... ...

    THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people.
That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If
each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of
receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted
within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If
this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 90p a LITRE RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and BUY your petrol at Shell,
    Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc.
    BOYCOTT ESSO and BP.

It's not the oil companies that make petrol so expensive. It's our damn government !!!!!

Correct it breaks down like this:

forecourt is 5%, the oil cost is 32% and taxation 63%

So its a message to the goverment that needs to be sent not to the oil companies.

Surely this wouldn't work, supermarkets must get their fuel from the main oil suppliers (esso & BP etc...)

    Thats correct friends PERCENTAGES!

Prices are still dictated by the Oil companies, only the government claims a percentage!

No, I think that the duty is a fixed ppl but then on top of that is a percentage that is called VAT.

Current price hikes are due to the weak pound as Oil is always priced in Dollars, of course not helped by the very large amount of duty that is added.

I know we're on an Audi site, but surely the title should read 'SHOULD MOTORISTS SUFFER FUEL PRICES?'

the price of petrol doesnt really bother me, i just put the nozzle in and fill the tank till it clicks off. The price of everything in the UK is a joke but things will never change so your better just getting on with it.

The 3 garages I use are all Shell and tend to be a few pence cheaper than most of the other garages around - apart from a couple of supermarkets.

I'm off to Germany for a week next Wednesday so it will be interesting to see what the Diesel price is like in France and Germany. It is normally quite a bit cheaper than Unleaded unlike the UK.

The main problem has nothing to do with the cost of the fuel but the taxation that the Government applies and you cannot avoid that whichever type you use.

We need another petrol strike IMO. I'd put up with a couple of weeks of inconvienience (sp?) in exchange for paying less than a pound a litre again. When I started driving I used to fill up on V-power for 97.9 :-(
It's no good trying to get hte oil/fuel companies to charge less because they dictate the minority of the price anyway - just look at the price of filling the tank in America for example...
The Government needs to realise that there's only so much people will take. Yes we need to sort out the massive national debt but sucking Joe Average dry isn't the way to do it in my book. Lower taxes on essential items (fuel etc.) = more disposable income in people's pockets = more spending on luxury items (days out, meals out etc.) = slightly bigger revenues for the Government and a much better public opinion...

    Garrrr! I hate politics...

totally agree, sad truth is the opposite of what the original post says, THE SELLER DOES CONTROL THE CONSUMER, they got us by balls

but as i learnt last time there was a load of uproar over fuel prices (and stated above) the oil companies aren't getting the biggest cut of the profit, its all the government, what a surprise eh?

i will continue to pay the prices up untill the 1.40-1.50 mark and then i will seriously re think my motoring habits, it will hit 1.30 this summer i reckon, already 1.25 a litre with the 3p tax "being phased in" soon (im talking about super unleaded at tescos here by the way)
