Hi,

I have just had my rear brake pads changed and noticed on the nearside the pads/disc really hum at the moment, is this due to bedding in or is it a sticky caliper, the wheel itself was v.hot too.

Thanks.

sounds like a sticky caliper if it feels hotter than usual, mine have never smelt like they've been abused when they're bedding in or not that i've noticed and i've just had grooved discs and pads fitted so spent some time up close looking at them after a drive i've had them smoking tho

Cheers s4marsh, the brakes were seriously hot, any ideas on how to stop the caliper sticking ? i can't get this looked at properly until next weekend now.

did you wind or push the piston right back when you fitted the pads and are they floating calipers? what car was it on? if the piston is not backing off slightly it could be a caliper rebuild possibly

It's an 01 S3, i don't know if they pushed the pistons back or wound them in, i am going to see them tomorrow to see how they did it.
