I've recently changed from Admiral to Adrian Flux. 9 Years NCB. There are many cheaper quotes around but many companies don't insure cars with mods.

Shameless plug because I work for Confused.com but give us a try!!! I would say that we pride ourselves on "price accuracy", which means the price we quote is the price you pay, as opposed to other sites that quote based on assumptions that give a cheaper price to lure you in, until you go to the actual insurer and see the "real" price.

I am insured with Elephant, for what it's worth. I pay 220.

Always found the `real` sites to be cheaper than any comparison websites simply because the comparison websites take commission.

Just cut out the middle man and deal with the company direct and its much cheaper.

Adrian Flux underwritten by Redstar (IIRC?). You have to tell the you are a forum member and you get an extra discount (apparently).

Quote: Are you in an owners club or online forum? If not consider joining one. There are several great clubs for all the main hot hatch models, so you're sure to find one you like. People who are enthusiastic about their car and learn all they can about it will take better care of it, which is why you could get an extra discount of up to 15%.

Top tip: refuse the first premium, but make sure they have your Email. A day or so later you get a customer survey mail shot. Fill that in with, "you are known as the premium mod/hot hatch insurer, but your price...yada yada..."

Next thing you know, they managed to reduce the (already competitive) premium by 70.

HIC do mine for 370 all mods declared and covered for business use. All modded parts are covered on a like for like basis unlike most companies who will hump th eprice but only pay out for standard kit.

SKY offered a damn good quote but not having heard of them I went to HIC. Then found out they did a lot of Jap stuff and were pretty good. Doh!

TBH mate I would steer well clear of all the Admiral group of insurers when it comes to anything more than a basic shopping car. I've had to deal with a couple of claims for friends and family with them and they are a total bloody mare

lloyds tsb and cis have always been the cheapest for me in the past! that's if paying annually. but halifax are meant to be good if wanting to pay by monthly installments but ive never been with them!

EDIT: i think Lloyds tsb is cheaper for me because most of my finances are with them so i think they give me like 3 months free!

Adrian Flux here although never accept their renewal quote. When you get the renewal through, go to moneysupermarket.com, get the best price, ring AF and tell them the good news. I saved about 200 squids this year by doing just that. That's like 66.7 pints!

Working for confused, I can tell you that's note quite how it works. Price accuracy means that either via confused or direct to the insurer site, the price will be the same.

The "Commission" comes from the insurer marketing budget, not the quote.
