    New here looking for advice

Hi, I'm Ryan and new here. I've come looking for advice, so first off I'll give you a basic run down of where I am.

I currently drive a Corsa C 2004 1.2, and I feel the time has come for an upgrade. Originally it was no questions asked a 1.8 Astra SRI. How ever when I posted think on Corsa C UK, I didn't get the replies I though I'd get. People were saying why are you sticking to vauxhall, on your budget theres much better cars out there.

I was recommended to go German, but in my price range, £3250 max, I couldn't find anything that looked decent with good miles. How ever I was told when buying the likes of BMW, Audi and VW the miles don't matter, just a good service history and well looked after car. One of my mates has had both the Audi A3 and VW Golf GT TDI (I think there the same engine) and both of those have been way over 100k miles and not once been in a garage.

What does everyone think on buying German with high miles? Since you are the owners I guessed you'd be the best to ask.

    Thanks!

First off welome to the forum.

High mileage particularly diesel audi don't scare many of us on here. I have a 1.9tdi a4 avant with 137k on the clock and no major running problems and I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a mileage that makes mine look like its just been run in!

    Thank you and Hi.

I forgot to mention it is the diesel engines I'm looking at. On a E46 forum I've spoken to someone whos 320d has gone over 300,000. So I know they can do it, I just want to be reassured that they can do it relatively fault free haha.

I'm guessing most people on here would agree with me when I say a high mileage German car is better than a mid range mileage Vauxhall?

hi all the way i look at high mileage cars is they have been up to temp sitting in one gear and going up and down motorways that is the best mileage you can put on a car as long as it as a good service history it does not have to be main dealer and preferably not on longilfe servicing i would not hesitate in buying one. in fact i have bought many high mileage audis in the past. in my humble opinion i would rather buy a high mileage car than one that as rarely been up to temp and messing about in towns stop start is where all the wear takes place on engine/suspension/ brakes/ and steering not flying up and down motorways
