Selling my Car..Who do I need to inform? What forms need to be filled in?

Hi All, I am selling my Corsa to a family member as soon as my Audi is ready to be picked up in a couple of months. The Corsa being my first car, I have never been though the selling car process.

Who do I need to inform? What forms need to be completed?

You need to inform DVLA and your insurers. DVLA via your V5C (registration / log book). From the DVLA website:

Complete section 6 on the V5C.
Sign section 8 on the V5C.
Get the buyer to also sign section 8 on the V5C.
Give the buyer the completed V5C/2 section.
Send the V5C to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA.

send it yourself
if you give the full V5 to the new owner and they dont send it
you will get a fine

You receive a receipt saying the car is no longer registered to you,keep it just in case.
