How do you tell if your car is an 8P or an 8L ?

I am assuming ours is an 8L as it was registered in June 2003

8l is the original shape a3

8P is the shape after 8L.

And 8V is the latest 3rd Generation A3.

By looking at it with your eyes.

Also look at the chassis number it will have either 8L or 8P somewhere in there, easiest os to look outside at the bottom of the screen.
Nice trick by the way, admitting in the heading it was a stupid question, normally I go into posts thinking it's something interesting, to find it's a stupid question, thought at least this guy's honest

Not really that stupid....If you have never owned an Audi before.
I expected a reply from those of you who thought it a stupid question, explaining the order of the models.
As I believe it, in 2003 the models changed from 8L to 8P and I wanted clarification as to when.

jojo was the only member who gave an explanation that was helpfull.

Ask a straight forward question and expect half of the replies to be stupid.

2003 was the changeover year, so you could have an 8l or an 8p, so which one is it?

As mentioned, if you look at the chassis number it should tell you on there.

To be honest, the question is 'only' stupid if you know the answer already. If you don't know the answer, just do some research or ask the question, there's no shame in the that.
