Trade Parts Specialist (TPS)

Made my first ever attempt to buy a part from TPS earlier this week, and they were as helpful as I could possibly hope for. Agreed over the phone to sell to me, took the part order, told me it would be in the following morning, and emailed me to say it was ready. The price was 20% below dealer price.

Strange, I've been into a couple of TPS branches local to me and they have served me without any isssues. Been using them for a couple of years now.
 
Its all luck of the draw, some will serve and some wont.
 
Only been too tps twice, and going to the audi dealer was cheaper both times :/
Tps wanted £170 something for a lateral sensor, audi was £140.

I think I know why this is. I've just had an email from my local TPS, and the email address is not "@tps.co.uk" or anything like that. It's the name of the umbrella company that owns two local Audi dealers. That leads me to conclude that TPS isn't a single nationwide business, but more like a franchise where inidividual local businesses operate their own operation under the same brand.
 
That would make sense, hence why some do and some dont, its all about business.
 
I've either not had the brass neck to try using them as I know that they are set up to supply trade only, neither have I tried using Dingbro who are a large Scottish only I think, car spares independent - though I did in the past use my local branch before it was "Dingbro'd"! (who thinks up a name like Dingbro?)
 
Ah, now I can answer my own question:- Dingbro = Dingwall Brothers, initially based in Fraserburgh!

Teesside now have a sign up stating trade only on the door, that went up a few months ago, but I've been in there a few time and not seen anyone turned away.
 
TPS in Guildford are not dealing with joe public now either, trade or nothing.
 
I did ask and they just said unless I was trade they would not sell to me..
 
Bet the Audi dealers complain they are losing money on part sales....

I was at Teesside TPS today and was served without any issues.

The 2 Manchester ones have refused me a few times now saying since March 1st it’s trade only
