Admiral refuse to insure with remap

I've just contacted my Insurance company Admiral to see how much they would charge if my car was remapped standard stage 1 35/40bhp increase

The answer was they wouldn't cover me the increase is above the percentage they would allow what tosh

How old are you? My insurers didn't want to know about the word modified before I was 25.

Admiral refuse to insure with remap

That's weird because when I was looking at my renewal, admiral were the cheapest for my car with a stage 1 map and cat back. (On a comparison site)

This insurer, whilst they do cater for some modifications, they predominantly insure standard UK cars. Generally speaking, a modified car requires a modified car insurance specialist.

It's not tosh, it's a commercial company's right to exercise its legitimate commercial judgement when deciding who it does business with, and on what terms.

I think it's tosh in the sense that they said it's above the percentage they allow when i asked what the percentage was the person i spoke to couldn't tell me she should have just said we wont insure a modified car what ever the percentage

Why does everyone get their knickers in a twist when an insurance company won't cover you for this or that?

There's like hundreds of insurance companies out there, and one will come good, no point slating the one that didn't deliver?!

I stand by this, that comparison sites like gocompare, supermoneymarket etc .com are good for standard cars, and for modified cars, go with specialists like the forum sponsors who offer modified schemes for our members.

For my S3 specifically, I've used greenlight, adrianflux(was with these guys last 5 years in a row, 36yrs of age, 14yrs ncb, clean license, and they couldn't price match to keep me!) and prestige(who I'm with now) in the last 9 years.

My other half's standard Rav4, which I insure anyways, I used comparison sites, where the existing insurer can't/won't price match a better quote I managed to find.

My experience with Admiral was they can cater for upto 25% over standard power, so if your car is a 100bhp car, then a 30bhp increase is a no, but if you have a 200bhp car, then a 50bhp increase is acceptable. They have called me up to offer multi car policy, as I state I have 4 cars on my drive during the quote process. I told them 3 of them are modified, and they soon change their tune over the phone, so I move on. Simples.

i have found the comparison sites to quote me the cheapest quotes by believe it or not nearly £2000 im 23 been driving for 6 years but as a named driver :D hence why most of the quotes are ridiculous. everyone's circumstances are different and each insurer will quote different from person to person
