Audi A3 to buy or not to buy

Hi all,
Newbie here.
Can ayone give me any hints or tips on buy an A3, please?
My heart says big fast A3.
My head says A3 with 5 doors and more economical.
I'm looking to spend £6k max.
I've been promising myself automatic for the last few cars I've owned but as of yet havent had one.
Any advice welcome.

I just bought myself one, 2005 2.0FSI sportback. I find that they seem to go for quite high prices, but then one came up one day closer to the £4k mark. So, if you can wait, then it's worth holding out for one that fits your requirements. Autotrader have a email alert function which helped me to find mine!

Things I look for are:
Full Audi history
Owners
Additional extras and the spec of the car
General condition, taking mileage into account

Make sure you check everything out carefully, and get hold of the logbook reference number, so that you can do an MOT check. History check is worth the £2.99 too, and can flag up any potential issues with the cars history.

If you know the exact model of the car, then a search around these forums to see what other users who have the same model think of it too!
