The Mini JCW GP was recently presented at the Paris Motor show. With a lighter weight, increased power and running gears orientated for ‘track days’, this advanced Mini clearly defines its ambition through its distinct technical solutions.

The choice of tyre is a serious indication of the aim of this vehicle. In using semi-slick tyres the message is clear. Contrary to Renault who opted for the Toyo R888 for its Megane R26-R, Mini chose Kumho Ecsta V700’s in the 215 40ZR17 83W dimension.

This decision evidently payed off, confirmed by the result on the Nürburgring circuit where it was 18 seconds faster then the previous Mini GP that had been mounted with standard car tyres.

Sport and circuit fans, what do you think of this choice of English tyre? Have you already had any experiences with semi-slick tyres?
