I've managed to get hold of a used high level brake light for my avant B6 A4. The plastic has light scratches all over it and I have tried 2500 to 3000 wet n/dry sanding and then progressive machine polishing with Megs Scratch-X which has improved it but not up to a standard that I am happy with. If I polish and seal it it looks good for a few hours then the scratches come up again

Will a plastic light allow clear lacquer to bond to it?

I'm thinking if I sand 2500 to 3000 again and then apply 3-4 layers of lacquer it should give a more permanent improvement

What do you think?

recommended by a guy on the detailing section... I tried it and I'm pretty happy with the result. Even used it on acrylics inside the car. I got it for £10 from passion auto.
