Hi all last month i had my 2002 a3 1.8t remapped, they used a custom code by viesu based on a octavia rs map.
Since the remap i have been really happy with the results!! the car feel so much faster and pulls like it is a different car!! However since the remap i have blown my d.v giving it to much, then on the way to work sunday a give it a bit to much again and blow the intercooler pipe off which make a massive noise and triggered the esp light to come on for some reason? and made the car go extremely slow!! i knew it was a defo boost leak or turbo problem but couldnt see anything out of place i took it to a vag specialist who found the problem straight away and charged me £76 to have the fault codes reset and to put the pipe back on my question is do you think my car is over boosting? and how do i resolve this problem? also i didnt think the 1.8t had an intercooler? the garage just said it was one of the large pipes at the rear of the engine?

all turbo cars have an ic
and its very common to have to replace the DV
i wouldnt worry but if you are get a rr or log via vcds

up date on this problem!!

last night i was coming home from work and giving it a bit!! 0-70 and the pipe with the metal self locking end that fits onto the intercooler came off again!! once again i have had this refitted and an additional jubilee clip put on!
On the way to work again today a gave it a little power not to much and the ESP light came on and i loss power!! The pipe did'nt come off this time but i loss half the power and couldn't hear the turbo anymore! i pulled over and switched the ignition off. then restarted the car, it was fine again pulled strong no esp light. My question is has the remap made my car over boost? how do i solve it? and why is the esp light coming on and lossing power is it related?

found out that the maf sensor was faulty and giving false air values, causing it to give to much boost or to little. Also while aceleration hard above 4000rpm the car would hesitate really badly, so i disconnected the Maf and it was much smoother without any issues. Since then i have cleaned the Maf sensor using contact cleaner so far so good i haven't had any problems since!!
