I'm not sure it will be that quiet Sandra, it's not the RS3's finest hour if it's this one? With the RS3 driven by Rally legend Mark Higgins of the IOM Subaru moment fame... Oh dear you can already guess the result surely, damn those Conti 5P tyres! If they had only been on the same tyres it would all have been different :laugh:
This video is blocked on YouTube for the UK but the Chinese equivalent 'Youco' seems to work fine!
I'm impressed with the lap times for both cars, my best ever is almost 3s slower. Mind you they are pros and Cadwell Park scares me silly, especially if it's damp, so many ways it can go wrong there.
They're bound to slag us off. The £10k more expensive oversteering hot hatch...........Blah blah blah
In fact I think I've seen it before ... it's Tiff and a guest rallycross driver driving them.

It's a bit unfair don't you think since the RS3 is a hatchback (sport back) and the BMW is a coupe so for the RS3 to be close is great but I would like to see them pit that 1M against a TTRS, now that would be close my brother has a 1M and I have a TTRS and let me tell you it's very close and the tt slightly beats it.

Anyway you're in luck I can't write articles about those cars with a propeller badge as my Tourette's Thesaurus oversteered into a hedge sometime after encountering the slightest drizzle on the road.
Anyway here's one to cheer us all up after that inevitable outcome. I don't know about you but my RS3 spends more time on wet roads than dry tracks.

I have no extra information but maybe the smoother power delivery of the S5 supercharger over the boost of the turbo.
I do know this test upsets the GTR set, '08, 480/1740 = 1.32.40 vs '11, 530/1736 = 1:35:00 - where did those 50 horses go?
Why is the TTRS so low down?
Good question. The highest placed TT seems to be the non-quattro 2L petrol car!
Here is what the Sportauto journalist said about the TTRS on the wet handling track (it's a google translate job so some of the meaning is lost but I think you get the impression from this):

It depends less on the concept from, rather than the implementation of the same. Neither the technical layout to another in terms of qualifying tires can be spoken by a specialist for low friction - that is the distance traveled on the wet handling course from time clearly. An initial push through the front wheels replaced after a bit too much gas with abrupt oversteer on what not continuously or simply designed to drive at the limit. The driver can thus preferably the ESP turned on, regardless of the strong performance loss that inevitably sets in due to the then permanent control interventions. The ABS intervention, so to speak regularly compliant, which means they are all structurally effective in providing reasonable frequency.
I will obviously not compare my knowledge or skills, or lack thereof, but I must say that if we talk feeling, I can defo say that I've never felt a car so planted in the wet on that Welsh road we drove on. I relate to what this guy said about our car on that wet track. My Megane RS would have got me off the road, or the front wheels would have constantly lost traction.
I understand that the 1M or else would be superior in the dry, but somehow, I feel I'd have the confidence to push for longer knowing that I'd keep stability until I find myself having to brake. I am not sure the 1M driver would have that leeway.
Way back I had a Nissan 200SX - fantastic fun, rear wheel drive, 200bhp and no ESP. It taught me a thing or two about driving. But it was scary in bad conditions. AWD gives vastly more confidence in bad weather, and here in the UK that is the prevailing condition.
I'm sure Tiff Needell is faster in a RWD than an AWD drive car. But a regular guy? AWD will be faster and safer every time.
