i love estoril in flat dull light but couldn't live with it being so blue in sunlight, it's just too blue for me I'm afraid which is a shame as I love the crystal effect and the fact it was a S colour only........
i considered red monsoon, but saw it in the flesh and it's underwhelming, no pop or real metallic flake.................
therefore Panther Black ! Crystal, cherry flavour, S colour only and works incredibly well with the super sport seats and aluminium highlights...
I'll be keeping this car for a minimum of 6 years and know that black will remain en vogue throughout, and I'm extremely particular about a clean car, I actually enjoy detailing, sad I know...
so Panther it is, perhaps not a choice I was expecting but in consideration, most likely my final decision :)
@lecht... glad you came round. i will share some photos of mine when it arrives in a couple of weeks!
The real test came when stopping. side by side at 20mph, he took 2-3 car lengths more to stop. Imagine what that would be like at 60...
I've currently got the 8L & as far as I remember its 50/50 split.
It's actually quite hard to get the back end to step out in the snow without really trying.
You need ESP off & a good yank on the wheel combined with a good boot on the throttle to get it out.
In normal driving, yes, it pulls it right back in line & keep's it well behaved. I expect the new one will have at least the 2nd gen Haldex, or even more. Not kept up with developments, but I know the 2nd gen is even better than mine.
Something else I noticed... There's no engine temperature gauge in the new S3. Don't know about you guys, but I'm not too happy with the idea of having no indication until there's already a problem.
Faulty thermostat for example...
Like I said guys,
Orange Wheels is giving still near 8% discount. DTD is not the only broker out there.
Hi, I know it is a long time to wait for a car, however, with such a vehicle, would you want Audi to overproduce them and then just stack them up on a field or a old airfield runway? I remember Ford having hundreds of vehicles damaged because they were outside in the middle of a severe hailstorm. They were repaired and sold as new, again, would you want that?
Just had a build week confirmed as 45!
Tried to call the dealer to see if I could change spec this morning, obviously I couldn't but I'm not too fussed. I organised to have him reduce my PCP figures so that I'm travelling 5,000 miles per year rather than 10,000. I'll let people know what savings I get by doing so!
Negative equity assuming you want to just hand the vehicle back, but who does that really? Mileage is only important if you intend on doing this, but you'd lose out either way as the GFVs are always very conservative.
If you went over the agreed mileage and wanted to hand the car back at the end of the term you would be hit by excess mileage charges as well don't forget. You might well go into negative equity even on a trade-in if you have grossly under-estimated the annual mileage. You will probably be fine on a private sale, but as I said you won,t have much left over by the time you have settled the balance.
Yes I understand all the potential pitfalls of reducing the estimated mileage & am happy to reduce the amount of equity held in the car at the end of the term. I don't do that many miles so I'm not overly worried. My daily commute is a mere 4 miles & some simple math showed I'm allowed to travel just under 100 miles a week on an estimated 5k.
When placing an order for a new S3 via an Audi dealer, does one have to pay a deposit up front and if so what size....or do you just sign a purchase agreement?
I'm planning to purchase an S3 saloon next year.
Also....does anyone know whether the engine in the new S3 is an interference engine...(will there be a huge bill if a belt goes)...assuming the engine uses belts....maybe there's a chain?
Would an S3 be happy running around as a regular short trip commute with occasional weekend blasts or does the engine need very regular blasts to stay happy?
Is the Auto box likely to be more kind to the clutch than a manual or is clutch life unlikely to be an issue within 8 year ownership?
For my last two A3's I have paid a £1000 refundable deposit, in my experience Audi want this level of deposit to give them at least some sense of commitment to the purchase.
With regard your clutch question it really depends on how much you abuse it irrespective of it being a manual or auto.
Whether a shorter commute is good for the engine IMO is the same irrespective of what you buy. For example, if 5 days a week you are only driving it 3 miles up the road to work it is likely to have a detrimental effect on the engine performance long term as the car rarely gets to standard operating temperature under these conditions.
Had confirmation this morning my S3 is built and about to make its way to the UK. So I'm guessing 2-3 weeks from now
what to people think of sat nav, a must in the S3? im looking to keep the car next to standard but dont want to cause issue come trade in.
Spoke to my dealer today, he says the car is about to leave Germany in the next day or so, he then said it's possible all being well to take delivery early next week. Is this possible given the car is still not in ze country?
Mine has landed in the uk and is going to be transported to the dealer this week ready for collection next week I hope!
