Help! Cambelt Knowledge Please!
Further frustration preventing Morris from going back together and suffering a throttle related spanking.
Got shiny new cambelt kit incl. tensioner from Euro Car Parts. To best of their their knowledge it is the right kit. But it's different to what's on the car.
Here is what the original Cambelt Tensioner looks like as fitted on the car. Sorry about the VAST pictures, don't have resize option available to me at the mo.
notice that the tensioner piston fires out horizontally, and is connected to the tensioner pulley with a little balljoint.
Now, here's what came in the replacement kit;
Notice that the tensioner piston fires out at a bit of an angle, and rather than being attached to the tensioner pulley just butts against it.
The questions are:-)
A)Has anybody found the same thing when doing an AEB cambelt replacement,
B)Is this what the man at Audi meant when he said that when a B5 comes in for its first cambelt change they fit a slightly different set of bits to lessen the risk of timing belt slip
C) If it is a direct swap / update, is installation the same?
Apart from the weird relationship between piston and pulley it looks like the mounting holes are the same and they all line up OK...
I'm just ****-scared about fitting the wrong part.
Whad'ya reckon? And thanks in advance.
