Just read the fuel adaption figures before I fit the 4bar FPR clear the codes then go for some logging.
Hey Westy, what about fitting slightly bigger injectors and scale them with unisettings?
Yesterday i stumbled across a vwvortex thread that explain how to convert to E85 fuel.
What other knowledgeable people think of this method?
Here's the link VWVortex.com - DIY: a complete guide to convert your chipped 1.8T to run on E85 FlexFuel ethanol (in 4 easy steps)
Is that guide seriously suggesting fitting bigger injectors and running e85 by just tweaking unisettings?! That's surely just asking for trouble.. I can't believe anyone recommends that's an acceptable way of doing things... Am I wrong? Is unisettings that good and reliable?
Some logs with the 4 bar FPR:
Injector Cycle no higher then 96% now which is an improvement:
Just need the experts to tell me what the fuelling is doing?:
as suspected, the long term trim is pulling the added fueling of the 4bar FPR, but seeing as at WOT it relies on the maps rather than measured values, it appears to made a difference the the IDC's
Did a couple of AFR graphs for comparison between the 3 bar FPR and the 4 bar one:
As you can see, the 4 bar is making the car run slightly richer on boost but at least the injectors aren't being maxed out. I'm happy with the fuelling going on all the above figures and I did go for a bit of a blast this morning and the car feels strong.
Mooore flames :D
Isnt flames / unburnt fuel through the turbo very bad for the seals ?
Looks good westickles! Most impressive :)
230g/s + is sure going some!
Been bored this afternoon so did my resistor to replace the evap solenoid:
has it worked???
ha, look at that kermit green, awesome
Not overly conclusive tbh... would be better to assess this from the actual logs with relevant blocks to see what else was happening at the time... egt's, lambda live adjustment etc...
Tell me what to log and I'll log it
Blocks 001 (lambda control), 031 (Lamda request/actual), 112 (EGT)
Block 002 will give you injector on time...
There is also an enrichment factor for the calculated EGT's which (from what I understand) is measured from the heater temp of the Lambda probe... this is typically set to 820 deg on the S3 and is where the ECU starts to use enrichment tables beyond LAMFA... this (I think) is on block 034...
This may be of use too
I've not had a chance to go out and do any more logging yet but I have noticed my MPG is better! It's actually climbing! I think this is possibly a misreading from using the 4 bar FPR.
yea, I'm fairly sure your DIS will show 15% or so out now
Noticed today that my exhaust is slightly blowing by the de-cat where I had taken it apart. I've got to the stage now where I think it's time to get a custom cat back system.
I've only had one quote so far and that was from MIJ near Brum for £395 for a 3" system. What seems to be the going rate for a custom 3" system and can anyone recommend anywhere in the south east?
MIJ??? searchy their work dude........... All I will say
Shame your not around my end mate, i paid £500ish for my xspower dp n decat fitted along with a custom 3" system all the way through with a oval tip, looks awesome and sounds amazing but ismt over kill :).
I've already got the xs mani, DP, and de-cat so I just need the cat back.
MIJ used to be good but seems they've slipped. Could be a test mule for piper? Just means you'll have to take a trip to Folkestone but the system is free I think or atleast very cheap. Bit far up this way although not too far once you move. BTB in daventry. Bit more money perhaps but a damn good quality system. Just look at their site lol
Tell me more about piper? I don't mind bein a test mule for a cheap system :eyebrows:
Edit: just been on their site. Why would it be cheap or free?
Because it'd be a development system they haven't done before. They don't do anything Audi currently according to their site. Unit18 developed a few systems with piper recently, that's how I know. The 8l s3 scene is pretty big, just look at the amount of people you see posting up with new cars. Worth an email perhaps. Looking around earlier all the systems I found were over 500quid so if they could do better than that they'd be onto a winner.
I pinged over a nice email to Piper to see what they think. I doubt they'll do anything for free but it's worth a go to try and get a cheap system as a guinea pig car. I'll let you all know what they say.
i think I need a 3'' zorst as well these days.
It's all well and good having an ultra quiet car, but I fancy a bit more sound if I'm honest! It only records 86dB on the sound checks at trackdays!
Have messaged Ali at the unit to find out so I'll post up what he comes back with.
Just need a smaller backbox or cut it open and pull some of the baffle out. My jetex is too quiet for my liking. The backbox is huge and it's the only box in the system. Expect mines about the same volume as prawns just about. Sounds nice around the mid range but up top is mainly engine sound and down low there's hardly anything. I'm used to asbo spec systems lol.
