Two different temperature readings - Please help!
The fans in my 2002 1.6 A3 weren't coming on, meaning the car would be getting to 110 on the temperature gauge.
Before I bought the car it had the following replaced:
Fan temp sensor on the radiator
Thermostat housing with thermostat and all sensors
Fan relay control unit
This still didn't solve the problem, and I was told it could be the waterpump because if there's no flow of water to trip the sensor, the fans won't come on.
Anyway, I've now had the waterpump and cambelt replaced, and apparently the old waterpump was seized. Also, the fans were seized solid too. Apparently the car is still overheating.
The garage has run diagnostics on it, and hasn't found anything other than there's two places to take the temperature of the coolant, and one is 30 degrees higher than the other. They said I'll need to go to an Audi specialist to get this sorted, but it seems like this is going to be a hugely expensive thing to fix.
Has anyone got any ideas please as not even a decent garage can figure this out? It's driving me mad.
