Hoping to get a clutch pedal back, Ben changed the master cylinder.
Pic shows the arrangement in bits and the start of a massive puddle of fluid that the car was pissing out. Changed it, re-fitted and pumped the pedal and still the clutch fluid was squirting out.
Ben reckoned it was this:
One of the bits of rubber had relocated itself. Put it back in the right position, still no decent pedal. Replaced this and the part that Audi simply call 'Tube' ( pipe with a circlular piece that attaches to the bulkhead) and I now have a clutch pedal again :o.k:
The 90 degree joiner arrives today. Downpipe bits, tip and dv silicone arrive tomorrow.

I ordered these yesterday at 2pm, they arrived this morning. Can't beat that for efficiency.

got out of work late and Ben had been a bit of a champ and pretty much finished the downpipe, minus the final test fit..
It's not the easiest to get in and out and once the dogbone was tightened, the downpipe sat wedged the heat shielding, meaning it needed to be taken back out, cut and the bend modified. It was all going so well, until the mig ran out of wire and the gap is too great for the tig. Sad times.
tip and DV setup was sorted, as was the 90degree clip.
Spot the difference:
DV has been serviced and replaced with the new piston design.
i shall finally have the car back tomorrow night.

Driveshaft and tip need to be fitted this morning, but apart from that its good to go. It starts and sounds just as it did before which is a good base to work from.
A fair bit of modifying took place in order to refit the brake servo pipe as someone has put a downpipe in the way, but with some chopping and changing and a bit of plastic welding, it fits. Downpipe was its usual fun self, but the old system fitted straight to it which was a bonus, although it seems to sit a bit low so I'll see how much scraping i hear over speedbumps and see if some tweaks need to be made. I now have a VVT unit as well, but won't be getting it fitted straight away as I want to see what the manifold does first,then see if there is a difference when the vvtech kicks in.
Dont say that! lol. Newbs will think it does kick...Used to get people on Yaris forum saying yeah my car has vvti i can really feel it kicking in or when is the cross over point...is it like vtec? FACEPALM

Car went back together yesterday, started it up and it sounded a bit rough but after a few seconds was all good. Left it running for a while and it was fine, no leaks anywhere or anything like that. Decided to let Ben have the first drive (sure he secretly likes the car) just in case there was any issues, he came back in and said the downpipe was 'knocking its tits off'
Engine was moved as far to the n/s as it could be and we set off to the shop for snacks. Car is noticeably quicker then it was before which is good, but the issues aren't sorted yet unfortunately. Basically all the time there is boost, the brakes don't work as they should. As soon as the car is off boost they work again. Going to try and sort this today, diagnosis was that it could be a faulty one way valve.
not so much faulty as installed wrong way round perhaps ?

This had melted to the downpipe. First thought was to get a metal one made up, but it'll still knock so that's not ideal, so possibly going to relocate the hole to get it further away from the downpipe and bung up the current one.
Should be fun.

I didn't find it, I was still on the way from work, car was in and back out before I got there. Replacing it would be an easy fix, but it needs relocating.
Relocation, relocation, relocation is the answer.

So gsf pattern clutch master cylinders are a crock of ****. It's broken after about 4 miles. Exploded and nearly set the car in fire.. This happened last night and so I still don't have the car.
The surgery to relocate the servo pipe was a success so I'll post some pics.

so gsf are sending out an LUK one to replace this piece of ****.. Buy cheap, buy twice. Or in this case get the cheap upgraded to a genuine one as their one is crap.

Well, sort of..
Ben sorted out the clutch master cylinder again I took it out for a drive.. Unfortunately, very heavy fog and no fuel meant that I had to drive it very sensibly to the petrol station. I was majorly relieved when I arrived, as this is the site I was looking at:
A lot of smoke was coming out the exhaust, but it was only moisture so I wasn't too worried. There was a bit of smoke coming from under the bonnet as I walked out the garage, so I quickly moved it away from the petrol pumps and had a look. No issues that could be seen, so I left the garage and made my way back.
Not sure if it's because I haven't driven it for a while, but it seems louder then it was which isn't ideal..Also pretty sure the biting point of the clutch has changed, or I've forgotten how to drive and I ended up over revving a bit after a few of the changes.
Anyway, car is still at Ben's to fit some necessary heatshielding, and some tiger sealed engine mounts as mine are f***ed. The gearbox one especially has seen better days, and until they are changed we won't know how badly the downpipe is 'knocking it's tits off'.
Plan was to do some more tonight, but ended up spending most of the day standing around a dyno with Prawn and Ben, which made a change from trying to sort something on my car. I'm sure he'll be updating his thread later.
The few tweaks will be done on Monday, as well as some new numberplates. Then I've got a new lower section to fit to my front bumper, and the denim will almost be presentable again.
