Just thought id mention, that when i switched from samco tip to a b5 80mm tip the sound isnt as loud, for whatever reason. Certainly not as loud as that TT. That tt sounds like when the bonnet seal is removed, but with it its not as bad as that at all.
Less noise, more power, win win.
Just to add, dont buy a k&n version of this. Yes the filter is huge but it doesnt incorperate a velocity stack style setup like the oem paper version so its false economy if buying it for that reason, you may as well stick with a jetex aftermarket filter.
Got bored. Ordered the red / black OEM version from GSF.
I will, but logs from my car are meaningless Pretty much as it maxxes out the MAF by 5k rpm and runs blind from there on up.
I'll do a few logs before and after though and see if airflows whilst within the sensors range are comparable or not.
Prawn how do you order the red/black version from gsf?
Jardo whats the dislike for?
Fairly sure the red / black version is just what GSF supply mate.
I gave them the BluePrint part number for the red / black filter, so if it turns up and it's a rancid colour, I'll just say 'no thanks'
Jardo's dislike is for the info you put, because it's bad news. It's just unfortunate that it comes across as disliking you
Coolio ill wait to see what turns up for you haha.
Hes a strange boy haha.
Anybody know if this S2000 filter also fits the A4 B7 (2005) 2.0 TFSi?
Haha no worries mate.
I believe it when i see it lol. So whats the sound like compared to the jetex?
Fingers crossed, just going to ask Niki if he can do it on Thursday when I'm there.
I'm sure he'll be interested enough to say yes.
Sounds not much different to a Jetex to be honest, just a little bit quieter.
and then niki can see what its like on my ko4 A3, i got mine today, although its a crap colour it cost me £8 and is a nip part filter, i just wont open my bonnet :)
ive got a mugen one ill put pic's up asap as its black
Prawn what was the part number you used for the red/black one? Don't really fancy the off-white one!
I've just revived mine. Red and black made by blue print adh22236 and its smothered in oil. Prawn is yours wet or dry?
has no one looked at getting a spoon or mugen one? ;)
Shouldn't be oiled as it is a paper filter.
No point in the spoon or mugen one, the point of this modification is that it is cheap and offers better filtration than a foam or jetex style synthetic filter. So an aftermarket filter will be no better than the £40 Jetex in terms of filtration, where the paper OE filter is.
Just ordered one along with a reducer so i can bin off my old K&N and swap it for this nice big unoiled filter. then get myself a new MAF then down to get a good scan to see what else needs doing to the car before i finally get it in for a remap (only taken me 18 months...)
I'm gonna clean my jetex. Spent too much lol
Just a thought, are these filters designed to run in a box? On the S2000 I mean. So if they get wet or any oil on them would they fall to bits?
S2k Filter fitted to mine:
after seeing that i want to paint my rocker cover! and ditch the big plastic engine cover... shall have to add that onto my list... got a few things i want to do to clean up the bay
it's the used and abused look, with a bit of paint thrown on to make it look like I care
Has anyone had problems with these getting wet/damp seeing there exposed and made of paper? Very tempted :)
prawn i thought you wanted the red and black one? i happen to prefer the black and off white one does anyone know where i can insure i get this colour combo? thanks. daz
GSF. I ordered the above, ADH22236, and this is what arrived.
I've got an AGU, just to confirm, I need an 84mm (ish) - 70mm silicon reducer to fit this filter to mine?
At £20 it'd be rude not to, but how often would you guys change this? Annually?
Personally, I think I'd use a 70-80 silicon reducer and an 80mm alloy coupler to go inside the filter neck. Seems a nicer way of doing it.
mines just turned up in the post, cant wait to get it fitted and find out for myself if its as good as described.
