2013 A4 Avant - Car (Mis)-Alignment? How can you check?
Since taking delivery of my 2013 A4 Avant back in december I have noticed that the car pulls to the left while driving down a straight piece of flat road (little or no camber) with the steering wheel straight and there are no other influencing factors such as incorrect tyre pressures etc at work. I have also noticed that I can never park the car straight between parallel lines or against pavements, which is definately not a problem I have had in other cars I've driven! I have also had other people try and park it and they have also ended up withng the car slightly skewed...
Looking at the car from the rear it looks like the right side of the car isn't quite as straight as the left! I can't work out if it's an 'optical illusion' or if there is a real issue with the way the car is aligned. In addition to this the doors on the drivers side don't sit quite as snug as the left side - there is quite alot of wind noise around both doors when driving and the drivers door needs a little bit more effort to shut than the passenger side. On their own the issues are fairly minor but together it makes me concerned that the car has a fundamental flaw.
Audi have had the car back twice to investigate the issue and have checked that all four wheels are aligned. During the testing they didn't find any significant mis-alignment in the wheels however the rears were both toed-in to a greater degree than what they should be, with the right rear being toed in the most. However, the combined toe according to Audi 'is in the green' and therefore due to this cobined reading Audi have refused to even adjust the toe on the rears. They have also driven the car themselves but have refused to accept that the car pulls to the left sighting road camber etc. even when it was blatently obvious that the steering wheel was turned to the right (by a reasonable amount) to get the car to go straight on a flat piece of tarmac!
Has anybody had any experience of anything similar? Is there a way to measure if the chassis of the car is aligned properly beyond just doing a four wheel laser alignment? Any help/advice on how to check would be greatly appreciated as there is something definately amiss with the car but proving it definitively is the challenge. I need something solid to go back to Audi with...
I would be very suprised if there was any kind of misalignment in the chassis as modern manufacturing techniques should be to a high tolerance, however I also know it's not beyond the realms of possibility. I also know that there are issues with the 2013 faceliffted version and it's steering however mine is not afflicted with that particular problem.
