Ok guys
A fellow forum member was kind enough to come to my home with his vcds to code in my rns-e for me..... before we coded it everything worked fine, apart from the nav displaying in the colour dis (which now works perfectly after coding)

But unfortunately the factory bluetooth that was picking up my phone before we coded the rns-e, is no longer working, when i scan for devices on the phone it says...'make sure Audi uhv is turned on and in range'

Is this a coding error? or something more simple?

if a coding issue, could someone give us the correct coding please before i trawl the net

Hi guys,

I am using the standard Concert system on my 2006 A4. It has Bose setup. I am looking for the cheapest option to get handfree working in the car. This of course using the existing speakers.

I have looked into getting the Audi OEM interface which is pricey ££ and means I should be able to use my steering wheel controls.

Would changing the headunit (with various adaptors for amp, steering wheel etc) give me handfree functionality? Are there any head units that solve this problem?

Thanks

Afternoon all,

I was hoping for a bit of advice from those of you that have the cab version of the b7 2.0t auto s-line variety. Is there any major differences between on 06 or 07 plate, the only difference I can seem to see is that the headlights have a clear lens instead of the orange indicator.

The other thing I would like an opinion on is is it worth spending the additional premium on the Xenon headlights. They seem to command an additional premium of around £1500- £2000 for them. I have always added aftermarket HIDs to my cars and never had a problem, so if the aftermarket works well on the A4 without error codes, then I was thinking of going down this road and save the money and put it towards a remap and Forge BOV.

Any other advice would as always, be always appreciated. I am looking around the £8-9k bracket and there does seem to be a lot available with less than 80k on the clock and all in the s-line with all the toys. Not that fussed about the bose speakers, I will upgrade the head unit and speakers at a later date.

Thanks in advance,

Colin

i've seen how to do it on some american car (youtube) but the rear of the bumper looks pretty complicated and feeding the wires into the boot looks a paid. also connecting to the back of the lights, where are the opening for the plastic housings to expose these wire and how do i get to them.

if theirs an A4 specific guide that would be awesome
thanks

Hi, how do I go about adjusting the steering rack?

I can see in the haynes manual theres a bolt to adjust the preload but I have no idea how im supposed to get to it.

Its the final thing I want to adjust before replacing as my steering feels a little ****. I've even go to the lengths of disconnecting the tie rods from the suspension to check that and it still feels the same, like a weird inconsistant resistance

No noise from pump, whining etc and no leaking fluid and no grinding or banging.

Thanks, James

*If you're wondering what that is, it's a non-functioning multi-function steering wheel!

Nigel (NHN) visited today, fitted my new wheel, installed the speech dialogue system, and coded everything. He also tidied up some of my own rather lamentable cabling, recoded my central locking to one-press and stuffed a sock in the gob of the seat-belt warning chime. Oh, and he updated the mapping in my RNS-E to 2013.

The only tiny fly in the ointment is that the existing slip ring wasn't compatible with the new wheel, and the local Audi dealer didn't have one in stock. So a new one will have to be ordered and Nigel will return to install it in a few days. Until then, my wheel controls and speech dialogue system don't work - hence the title and intro.

I have to say, what a guy! So many people had told me beforehand what a top bloke Nigel is, and they were absolutely right. I would just say that whilst he voracious appetite for tea is common knowledege on the forum, what is perhaps not so well known is his liking for toast and marmalade.

Until then, please see below a picture (rather a poor one from the phone) of my beautiful looking multi-function steering wheel

Oh yes, and my UK-legal pressed plates arrived this morning.

Hey - I know there's another thread on this somewhere but it's 2 years old now :)

So i've got the A4, 57 plate 170bhp version with 83k miles on the clock.

For the past few months i've noticed that i get a bumpy idle however I've been meaning to clean the EGR valve out to see if this will sort it but not got round to it yet. Well actually I did but I ended up getting down to the last bolt on the EGR and stripping it!!

Anyway - about a month ago on the motorway I got a flashing light which looks like a coil but apparently is the glow plug light? Also went into limp mode. I had a quick google while I turned my car off and read that it could be related to a wet footwell, esp if it's raining. It was raining so I put it down to that. It hadn't done it again until last week when I've been commuting home from work, 3 nights in a row, on a slight incline on the M74. No rain to blame either!

I've yet to get this scanned for faults but can anyone from experience tell me what the possible fault could be?

Also when sitting idle at traffic lights, I can smell a strong fuel smell coming from my car. Excess smoke I think - but i'm not sure if that's related.

The car has had the injectors replaced under recall too.

Help :/

So I was driving home tonight, and some pr*ck in a Merc estate was tailgating me (I mean I couldnt see the bottom of his windscreen and it has a long bonnet!!), so I did a slight brake-check on him (I pressed enough for lights to come on, but not to slow down) to get him to back off, and I was preparing to take a slip road off the motorway, as well as preparing to slow down for a car in front. He decided to pull to my inside (undertake) onto the slip road and tried to side-swipe me off the road! I put on the brakes hard - abs kicked in, wheels locked slightly and ended up at 0mph on the motorway very briefly before hard accelarating away. This guy was beside me all the time. He was shouting and shaking his fists, etc out the window. I managed to get onto the slip road which ends up at a roundabout with 2 lanes. I tried to let him go ahead (although he kept trying to slow/speed up to keep beside me). Then he started to follow me and swerve in and out of his lane behind me round the round-about then kept going along a dual carrageway into my town. So I thought fk this, this is crazy, so as there was some traffic, i used the full power of the car, and lost him. Hid away for a while at a friends garage as I think he kept trying to follow me.

If i had a lower powered car, there was no way I wouldnt of been smashed off the road by the guy. Seriously, I was actually driving home from uni (35-40 mins drive) at a constant cruise control 70mph and I always (where possible) stay in the left lane. People probably say I shoudlnt have brake-checked the guy, but when they are that close, you cant do nothing. I was suprised to see no marks on my bumper. Cant believe how close he was!

Anyway, rant over! So glad my daily driver is my S4! :D
