This is my first post on the forum after about 12 months of lurking and learning!

I'm hoping someone can help me track-down a boost leak on my 2007 2.0 TFSI.

The car is completely standard apart from a Bluefin re-map and had been running perfectly Ok until recently, when the performance dropped away together with a marked increase in fuel consumption. The performance loss was accompanied by a faint hissing as the boost builds and a loss of torque between around 2400rpm (where the boost used to peak) and 3000 rpm. Strangely, as the rpms rise through 3000rpm, the hissing disappears and the car's performance is close to what it was before the problem appeared.

My first thought was 'Diverter Valve' so on the ramps and under the car. Under tray off and .... there's the problem! Leaky joint on the boost pipe immediately before the intercooler (the oily mess around the joint was a bit of a giveaway). Remove pipe, clean everything fastidiously (strangely there was no oil inside the pipes, despite there being oil round the joint where the seal had gone). Fit new seals, test drive - no difference!

Back under the car, remove diverter valve. Old diaphragm type - rev G. Fully expected the diaphragm to be split, but - like new. Clean, refit, test drive - well you can guess the outcome!

As a precaution, I've replaced the rest of the black seals on the boost pipes with the new green ones. The jubilee clips (where fitted) are nice and tight and we know the diverter valve is good as new. But I still have a car with a boost leak because I can hear it and the performance is down accordingly.

Unfortunately, I don't currently have a VCDS (or whatever VAGCOM is called these days) but my generic EOBD test software is showing no recorded faults - helpful these computers!

If anyone can tell me where else I should be looking for a boost leak with the odd symptoms described above, I'd be grateful a million times over. I think I've exhausted the usual suspects and I'm not sure where to look next.

I though it was time for me to start my own builders thread. So please guy's be patient as this is my 1st thread build. So here it goes!! I will start at the beginning.

I previously owned a 2008 Seat Leon Cupra K1 and currently own a 2007 B7 Audi S3! I will mention a lot of the obvious at the beginning and will get more technical as I progress! lets briefly start with the Seat Leon build with explaining the good and bad.

My initial plan was to see what horsepower I could achieve from the Leon on a standard platform.

I began with remapping the car with a S1 Revo which gave me 300hp the car felt great but then got bored so remapped the car to S2 which bumped the horsepower up to 320hp but shortly after boredom started creeping back in so it was time for the bolt on's!

I've basically spent the past 4 weeks banging my head against the wall, ordering and returning poor quality FK front grills for my pre-facelift A3.

Basically, I'm after a black grill for my 2007 A3 as a direct replacement for the chrome/grey original. Does such a thing exist?

I'm perfectly happy to pay big money, so if Audi DO offer genuine black optic grills for their pre-facelift models then I'm happy to pay for them.

Can anyone help?

I am new to this and have just joined, i am having problems with my 2005 A3 2.0tdi, first of all the turbo blew, then the engine went, List of work done so far:
New turbo
Second hand engine
timing belt and water pump kit
Clutch and dual mass flywheel
Alternator clutch overrun pully

The car runs fine now but has developed a ticking/clicking sound when the engine is hot, it is fine up till then. it seems to be coming from the back/bottom of the engine and gets louder when slowing down also when the clutch is in.

Does anybody please have any ideas as i really want to keep the car considering all the work i have done.

I have the standard audi headunit and want an AUX input, to play music from my Iphone.

I don't want to replace the whole headunit as im not keen on aftermarket units and don't want to pay £500 odd upgrading to a better Audi unit, is there a kit I can buy and have installed fairly cheap to do the trick?

Spoke to car audio security fairly recently and they suggested a £40 kit (forgot the name) which lives in the glovebox, but didn't go through with it as I wanted to hear some feedback.

If anybody knows of a solution please let me know.

Its an A3 8P, 2005 reg with the standard unit, as I said.

I have noticed I'm getting quite close to the limit with my tyres and being 19 I can't really afford to take the chance of getting points! So I was pricing up tyres and they came to about £300 which I don't really have, especially with all my current issues such as turbo and coolant loss.

i nipped up to the scrappy today when I was killing abit of time and noticed these alloys which are 18" and they have tyres on each with fairly good tread. The guy said he would give me all four with caps and tyres for £130...

now in my current situation that sounds quite appealing however, I don't want to stick something on my car that will look rubbish. Anyone seen these on an a3 before and have pictures I can see? Or what are your thoughts?
