Hi all as some of you will know ive been trying to do rear electric window retrofit, today I messed about a little with the coding side seen as ive installed wiring/motors/switches etc, and it seems audi weren't even nice enough to put one standard internal electric wiring loom in and the wiring for the back doors doesn't exist, so some modding in the wiring harnesses is going to be required,

I checked my fuseboard and there is a fuse (24) labelled as rear doors driver and passenger now on my fuseboard there isn't a fuse there and no wiring to it from behind, sooooo I am now assuming there is a piece of wiring required at least between the block which the drivers door loom plugs into and the fuseboard and obviously a fuse fitting,

now im basically after any general wiring advice from ppl experienced with doing this sort of thing and possibly a picture of fuseboard from a early b6 a4 with standard rear electrics so I can confirm my suspicion,

I am also tempted to change the loom in the drivers door as I never done this when changing the switch as the plug was identical,

thanks in advance and sorry if I don't make sense :)

made a post about a week ago about a coolant leak in a nutshell it was me water pump ive got rac warranty so got the car into a Halfords auto centre who repair on behalf of rac they checked car and told me water pump was leaking and had been dripping onto timing belt so a new timing belt is needed rac said they'd pay for supply of timing belt and water pump but said the timing belt needs the full kit pullys ect but they wont pay for kit only belt itself is this even fair if audi specify the full kit needs doing with belt?? its all technically part of belt so they should pay for kit tbf coz its now gonna cost me 170 for the kit and its not my fault any of these problems occurred so I shouldn't have to pay for kit not when ive only had car 8 weeks and its needing a timing belt and water pump with only 64k on.

sorry for essay lol has anyone else had any problems like this with warranty's and whats peoples opinions on doing just a belt change without pullys and tensioners ect????

Ok i got my coilovers installed a while back now but b4 that my ride was nice and SILENT.
Once installed i noticed a knocking noise and knew it was coilover related. Just been driving day to day and trying to ignore it. Read loads of threads, people changing, engine mounts, top mounts, bushes, suspensions arms all to no avail.

But i did see that someone mentioned drive shafts. I went and checked for play and i reckon thats the cause. There was around 2mm each of play in both drive shafts and the noise it made of tapping was very familiar to whats occuring while driving.

So if you have coilovers check or confirm that theres play in there (left to right)

I dont know if its the norm to have play in the drive shafts, (2mm) id b glad to find out its not the norm and ive found the dreaded knocking noise!

On the way home I tried some spirited braking, just to be sure.. Then my engine light came on and the glow plug light is flashing.

VCDS scan reveals:

01126 Engine Speed Signal
03-10 No signal - Intermittent

I've checked all the engine measuring blocks, all are within spec, the fuel pump checks out and is getting power.

I checked my workshop manual and can't find the G28 sender where it's supposed to be, under the coolant expansion tank.

Where should I be looking?

Hi all,

Looking into fitting cruise control to my 1.9tdi quattro B6. Will fitting the hardware without plugging it into VCDS cause a problem?

The reason I ask is I was thinking of fitting the control module and switch on my drive but then will need to drive to someone who can re-program via VCDS.

Thanks,
Tom.

Hi
I've coded my car to Canada, so now the fogs are on together with parking ligh when in 0.
Plate light and rear light are also on, and so is everything inside. Nav is on nightmode(even in Auto).
I have AUTO on the light switch and the build-in lightsensor in the rearview mirror.
But why, when in AUTO, doesn't the light shift between fogs+park in daytime, and xenon when night??

I have the bi-xenon, CH/LH, Highline FIS.
The Auto finction works when the car is coded to ROW(rest of the world).
Except then, there's no light on the car, which is required where I live.

So Canada mode doesn't support the auto function or what??

I've copied this across from the Welcome forum.

Hello everyone and thanks for lots of posts that can be easily viewed berfore joining.

My wife & I are looking to move house but the one we've found is towards the bottom of a short but steepish hill that never sees salt or a gritter.

So..... we're looking for a quattro. Reliability is the most important issue as we're coming from 2 Toyotas, a 1.8 pertol Carina, sold at 129K having had nothing go wrong and currently a 2.0 petrol Avensis still going strong (touch wood) at 142K again with nothing gone wrong.

We'll have about 5-6K to spend so it looks like a B6 A4, probably a TDi but I know nothing about diesels.

So far I've picked up that the 1.9TDi is pretty well bomb proof providing oil changes/cam belt (water pump) done. There's the sticking turbo blades dealt with by Mr Muscle, the EGR valve dealt with by normal muscle, temp sender unit and slow wiper blades (I fancy using acf50 anti corrosion grease on those). An odd mention of CV joints and glove box woes and grease up the suspension/steering bolts. Anything else?

Autotrader has some A4 Avants well in the price range and we quite fancy the practicality. However, they do have serious mileage. Some are 2.5 TDi's and I can't seem to find much about these at all (save a sticky about injectors). I've never had a diesel or V6 in 30+ years of driving!

Real world MPG and running costs? Any thoughts or advice?

Looking forward to joining all you guys and girls.

All the best.

Andy N01
