a friend of mine has just bought a one owner 1997 2.5 tdi avant
for the most part it is in very good condition , however after checking it over today ive noticed a couple of minor problems i can hopefully sort out with a little help

im getting the 00575 vcds code come up when i scan the car
firstly for not making enough boost pressure then after clearing and retrying for making too much boost pressure
both of these are linked to the n75 valve
this part has been superceeded a long time ago , what i would like to know is if i can fit a newer n75 off
something like a seat leon cupra
has anyone done anything similar to this ?

the other problem i have noticed is the brake servo master cylinder appears to have been repaired at one time or another
but unfortunatly this too has failed again
is it possible to change just the clear plastic level indicator chamber or do you have to replace the entire unit

many thanks
nath

Hi guys,

Not been on here in a while :)

My car over the past week is struggling on the hills on motorways, there doesnt seems to be much go in it anymore, put my foor down and nothing, I can get it up to 70/80 and cruise on the flat/slight hills. There is a serious rattle from the exhaust near the engine but pipes are solid (possible dead/shattered cat'vertor?? and blocking exhaust) really out of my depth.

Having scoured round the forum Ive found the following....

Dead Cat'vertor
Leaking intercooler/pipes

Any suggestions would be awesome
Got to work with just under quarter of a tank, parked up for the day, finished work and started the car.
It was showing empty and beeped at me.
15 minutes down the road is shows just on the red and sat there till I filled up.

This happened twice so far.
Anyone else experienced this?

Does anyone know how much torque a stock 1.8T AJL puts out?

Im planing to get mine remapped, and although the K03 doesnt have much more to give by all accounts (another 10-20hp) I was wondering what kind of torque gains you could get.

From reading up on the net most say its well worth it, as although the top end gains are not as big as some, the gains across the rest of the rev range are considerable. Is this right?

Guys i need to get some parking sensors fitted on my car, as where i work we have block park with everyone else as the car park isn't that big, so would need parking sensors, I've been quoted for 2 types £280 with sensors that has like a lip on them or to have them flushed like they're factory fitted type £490 supply and fit colour coded aswell, I was wondering is they're any better rates out there or is the going price for the sensors? any recommendations near London at all?

Recently decided to sell my audi a4 1.8 tqs, It is going to be sold with 140,000 miles, audi service history upto 115k, plus standard services after. NO Quattro noises, engine is sweet, will sell with an MOT once the abs module has been repaired by a company, not myself. once I give the wheel rims a respray and touch up the body, what would be a fair asking price for a relatively quick sale. I was thinking 1200, or an ebay reserve of 1000. It drives excellently and is still a presentable car despite imperfections on the body, The colour is salsa pearl ( copper to burnt orange). So any opinions welcome?

Hi,
The windscreen washers have stopped working, jets are not blocked and i blew down the tube from the bonnet and the
the bottle bubbled.
There is no sound from the motor, I looked at the fuse layout and it seems its the same fuse as the wipes and delay,
so I guess it cannot be that.
What about relays? is it the same relay for the wipers, just want to check before I take things apart,
dont want to remove the wheel arch lining for nothing and find out its electrical.
The bottle is not easy to get at from inside the engine bay, I think I can take the pump of the bottle but not sure
how much wire is on the plug so I can dissconect it and test for Volts.

Hi all

I've had the battery off my car for about a week whilst it had some work done on the suspension at the front
Since putting bathe battery back on only the drivers door unlocked from the key fob.
If I unlock via the key the drivers door unlocks but the others don't, the windows do go up and down on both sides via the fob and from the drivers lock.
If I use the lock on the passenger side both passenger and drivers door opens. The pump in boot does make its noise when unlocking and locking.
Everything worked fine before we took the battery off.
It is a A4 B5 1999 TDI avant.

Any ideas
Thanks
