hi guys brought my first audi a3 a few weeks back now and already got some big plans for it.

well first off the car is a 1.8 20v non turbo audi a3 8l on a p reg.

black in colour and just done over 170,000

i paid £250 for it with 12 months mot but no tax.

car was stood up for approximately 12-14 months before i purchased it from a chap in chichester.

on collection of car i found only a few minor things wrong with it, brakes will need changing in about 8000 miles, inspection service light on, a few minor rust bubbles showing on roof rails.

all things that i will be changing soon and sorting out so no big deal there.

right anyway the car is black and am wanting to start a colour scheme, i love the euro look so have a lot to work with when it comes to styling.

i so far have decided on doing an agu engine conversion and have sourced a full drop in complete conversion from a chap up north who will supply everything i need for £300 apart from induction hose and filter. so i am sending him a deposit on thursday. before collecting or getting delivered in a few weeks time.

this conversion is coming in the form of, engine, subframe, gearbox, driveshafts, discs, pads, calipers, ecu, wiring loom, keys, dash clocks, full standard exhaust, hubs, arms, etc etc etc. so basically a drop in unit and bolt up, wire and plumb.

is there anything i could add. i know i would be looking at a front mount intercooler, induction kit with pipework, uprated dump valve, new clutch kit new water pump and cambelt kit.

right anyway back to the subject of colour schemes. the car is black and want to keep it black as love the colour but want to add some in your face colour scheme to go along side black. was thinking either dayglow yellow/green or vibrant pink.

i have seen a few cars black and yellow or black and green so am siding at the mo with black and pink.

i mean subtle things like engine hoses and graphics on rear window, also i have seen some cool wheels which are polished front and pink centres inside of spokes basically but they are not euro stance enough for me.

will get some pics of the car up soon but it is in standard audi trim so was thinking if someone could photoshop for me would be good. i want smooth door handles, smooth bootlid, facelift front bumper, s3 rear bumper, debadged grille, de wiper rear end. so going for the smooth euro look.

let me know what you guys think

these are the wheels i was looking at but think the polished bits would be better black

i do also like the grey/white/black army look samco hoses so that could be a colour scheme aswell but harder to pull off succesfully i think

My question is, is there anywhere I can bolt the steel "crossbar" to on the rad pack that already exists or is it a custom job?!

Hi guys,

Im attempting to swap my instrument cluster, I have a 1998 1.9 tdi, with analogue clock, Immo2, non-CAN and idiot lights!

I have Vag Tacho and VagCOM, and have used the vag tacho to connect and retrieve my SKC from the existing clocks. I did this by connecting and choosing my ecu type, VDO old, and it connected to the ecu and extracted the code. I can then change miles etc. The clocks have VDO on the back.

Now, I have purchased some brand new tdi clocks, which are IMMO2, can bus, but are not made by vdo, they have MM4 on the back. I dont have the skc for the new clocks, if indeed it has one as there brand new.

When I plug in the new clocks, the all light up, and the car starts for a second before stopping.

With the vag tacho in, I cant now connect to the ECU by choosing VDO Old. Nor can I connect via any other way, trying all the different types of ecu and clicking connect to ecu, or connect to any tacho.

Now there are a million threads on all sorts of vag forums, mostly helpful, but none saying how to retrieve the SKC from new clocks when the vag tacho doesnt connect!

Any help would be very much appreciated, I know the next step using vagcom to programme etc just need the ecu to talk to the new clocks?!?

Old clocks part number 8L0919910D
New Cluster p/n 8LO920950D

Cheers

Thanks in advance

Hi

As per title
How far does the friction disc move off the flywheel?
I ask because i still cannot disengage my clutch.
So the story so far.
Bought a smf F1 flywheel and kevlar clutch, with a normal pressure plate.
This went badly, clutch wouldnt disengage the flywheel.
Stripped the box back off and realized the pp was catching the springs on the clutch disc.
So bought an uprated pp and matched up to the disc.
The gap was only a couple of mill from the from the springs in the clutch disc.
Rebuilt and now the same has happened, the clutch will not disengage.
I bought the pp and clutch from cg motorsport.
I can cycle through the gears with the engine off.
With the engine running it will not go in to gear.
I can start the car in gear and it will drive forward.
With the car off, in gear and hand brake off, i push the clutch pedal down and the car wont move.
Any ideas much appreciated

I was wondering if someone can help me as I am a little confused ( doesnt take much) from looking through all the threads on different types of springs available. I am looking to replace the front pair of springs on my S3. It is a 2001 AMK.

Are these the correct standard replacement springs -

Sachs Audi | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

I have spoken to my local audi dealer (Hull) and they would be looking for £ 345.00 supplied & fitted which I think is pricey ??

The local audi specialist would want £ 260 supplied & fitted - is the difference between buying the springs myself and fitting them worth it ?

Also am I right in saying it is a good idea to replace the top mounts and bearings ? And if so are these the right ones -

SKF Audi | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

Would there be anything else you would look to replace ( without any unsuspected breakages ?)

Any help / input would be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi guys,

Assuming my car (S3 APY 210) is healthy and producing near standard power what power and stage could i look to get it mapped to with the following mods?

would i get more power travelling to a custom mapper up north? or should i go with revo around the corner from me?

Mods that are on the car but not yet dialled in are:

* welly cooler
*S2000 induction kit
*Forge TIP
*Forge 007P

* free flowing exhaust with decat

If im right thats everything needed to go to stage 2 revo? considering the 3" downpipe before mapping aswell
but would i get more power from a custom map? as they could dial in the exact mods?

thanks all! loving the forum so far!
